Which model did you pick? What type of bike did you mount it on? Any pictures?

Basic black B-17 I mounted it on my new Crosstrail disc. If it works out well I'll get a B-17 select for my Gunnar.

Man, that's a cool looking saddle.

I have, so far, avoided spending the extra money for the nicer-looking Brooks offerings. But they do look purty.

You will find like I found out years ago that the copper rivets sit nice and flush to the saddle.. The lesser expensive brooks with the silver small rivets on long rides tend to dig into your butt and can get uncomfortable.. Do not try any of the crazy breaking it is methods online, use a couple coats proofide on top to start, one of the bottom and re-apply every 6-12 months and you will be fine..

One of the big problems with brooks are the shorter rails and this seatpost is priced right and works great for anyone who cannot get there seat far enough back

Just got in from an 8 mile ride which is my first ride in a very long time. It started to get uncomfortable towards the end of the ride. But it felt pretty good overall. My rear needs to get used to riding again.

I love my Brooks B17! Looks like it'd be as comfortable as a 2X4, but it's great. Put one on my road bike 7 years ago and went for a 45 mile ride the next day - no pain, just comfort.

Is it the seat material or the suspension underneath that makes it comfortable?

With a Brooks, you ride on a sublime cushion of self-satisfaction. British industry was the envy of the world in the 19th century, and you're riding a superb example of Victorian-era innovation and know-how.

I rubbed Proofide on the undersides of my Team Pro saddle a couple of times when it was new to help break-in - the saddle is my favorite. Have others here done that? I also apply Proofide a couple of times a year.

I was told only apply to the top unless I plan on riding in lots of rain. Reason they say it clogs the pores of the leather. I've learned when it comes to this issue everybody does something different.

Yep. To each his own. I've ridden several Brooks and recently VO leather saddles and have always used Kiwi Mink Oil paste a couple times year. Some have sworn that I ruined the saddle, but they worked just fine and survived decades and multiple downpours.

I have tried a vintage Ideale leather saddle (from my dad's old Falcon) on my road bike, and I didn't like it for this reason. The saddle seemed too small for me; I was either riding the rivets in the back, or I was putting my weight on the nose; I was wishing for a more generous area of suspended leather.

My B-17 makes it hard wanting to ride on any other saddle. Makes the longer rides far more enjoyable.

proofide the top and bottom once during break in, but not suppose to proofide the underside often, and maybe the top twice a year, depending on how much you ride, i even proofide my tool bag just in case i get caught in bad weather

i also bought the brooks saddle condom and keep it toe strapped under the saddle just in case as well

I love my Brooks Swift titanium. It's far more comfortable than my previous saddles.
