Why do mountain bikers hate on road cyclist?

I ride both mountain and road. I personally haven't experienced any hatred towards me

Yeah! Its like when i get to the bike path on my DeRosa and some mountain biker goes, "Hey Spandex-- go back to yoga class!"
And im like -- "What- you wanna flex up ol man? How bout i kick you and your sack of dooby's back to Marin county!"
Then he's like - "Yo -- chill braaaah, you need to mellow out!"
And i'm like -- "I'll mellow out the day you go to the toilet store and exchange thos pants for diapers!"
-----And by this time everyone in the saturday church social charity ride has turned around and is gawking

Sounds to me like typical pinky-in-the-air mountain biker beer !
Roadies drink equal parts strong black Folgers coffee, preferably the freeze dried instant variety, and Pabst Blue Ribbon. !!!

I wear Lycra bibs and a road helmet on MTB rides, and I wear MTB SPD shoes and a Camelback on road rides.
I suppose I'm hated by all (or maybe by none, I'm not really sure about the rules of this cycling hate thing).

Gang mentality. Just like when a rider is by them self, they ride along the side of the road, when they ride in numbers they take up the whole lane.

In my 20 years of mountain biking I have met approximately 2 actual mountain bikers riding Walmart bikes on singletrack. I must have caught them in the 2-ride window after they decide to try trail riding, but before they realize these are not actual mountain bikes, but rather MBSOs (Mountain Bike-Shaped Objects).

Well, the honest truth is that I've been banned from there because I keep stepping on the precious toes of some of the prima donnas in one fatuous thread, in particular. Now, ain't that the drizzlin' sh*ts?

Yes, they are a hateful bunch, aren't they! I've decided to boycott that forum.

They're a spiteful bunch in this thread I was talking about (I suspect a certain amount of inbreeding). You cross them at your own peril. Word to the wise.
How did we get off track, anyway?

Another beginner, drowning in his lack of self-confidence, thinks everyone hates him because he rides on the road, or for his inexpensive bike, his street clothes, his weight, etc. Or maybe he thinks that because they didn't wave back?
