I have observed that the cycling community is full of cliques. Each one of which dislikes each other. This is why when I mention recumbents or trikes, I get a lot of grief. But then it seems to go on with each clique. Head down would be racer boys have no use for mountain bikers, cruisers, bents, or trikers. But then they are not the favorites of the others either. What everyone seems to forget is we are all part of the larger community that likes to bike.

I don't understand this since the instructions on how to "Bunny Hop" are include in the lyrics of the song, just like the "Hokey Pokey".
"The Bunny Hop" by Ray Anthony
Put your right foot forward
Put your left foot out
Do the Bunny hop
Hop, hop, hop
Dance this new creation
It's the new sensation
Do the Bunny hop
Hop, hop, hop
All join in the fun
Father, mother, son
Do the Bunny hop
Hop, hop, hop
Put your right foot forward
Put your left foot out
Do the Bunny hop
Hop, hop, hop

Father, mother, son

Don't feed the trolls, boys. We're in the dead of winter, but we're still better than this. Only a few more weeks until the winter beaters get their final wash and the flashy bikes can come out to play.

They're just frightened because they like the way my butt looks in my spandex.
Seriously, though, who cares about what some 12-yo on YouTube thinks?
I miss the 'hippy' vibe mountain biking had back in the day. Too much X-games and RedBull now.

Hate comes from ignorance comes from fear.
I bet you a set of Schwalbe Marathon Supremes that most cliques are relatively small but
make the most noise so they are the ones to whom we pay attention.
The only Clique I belong to are people who like to have fun.
Oh and mascotts,I belong to a clique that hates mascotts.😉

It was worse in the 90's until everyone figured out that the professional MTB racers actually did most of their training on road bikes.

it's weird ... most of the opeople in the Sunday group ride gravel and/or MTB when not on the road ... and everywhere except in trollville everyone gets along.
I think all this hate is the product of the OP and his friends .... and Rydabent, who makes even other bent owners hate 'bents.
If you like long enough Rydabent, you are going to see some ugly fat man chasing you down on a tadpole trike screaming "Get off my lawn!" That will be me ... and I will hate my trike because of you.
Stay happy ... I guess you don't get much winter riding in Nebraska. Bent trainer?

I wouldn't call it hate, they just like to make fun of each other; I ride both.

Some people do seem to be excessively interested in dividing people into ”us” and ”them”.
With ”them” obviously being inferior to whatever degree dictated by the whim of the guy doing the dividing.
Admittedly, I do some too.
During any kind of pack ride, My main sorting condition is ”those who ride sensibly” and ”those who ride dangerously”.
Next is simply speed and stamina. People get sorted into ”faster”, ”even”, ”slower”.
If it’s an organized ride, I might add ”people worth talking/listening to” and ”people best avoided”.
But rating people by the type of bike they ride - as long as it’s reasonably suitable for the type of riding they do - I don’t see the point.
