This post was worth opening just for this! The blob treatment. (Also common on titanium bikes. Yes, they use expensive precision castings and machining, but still - just really expensive blobs.)

If you will recall the cranberry colored Raleigh that left here for MA was that size and even though I could ride it, it moved on. The ride was not a special one for me. Maybe just a bit heavier than I am used to, but I looked it in the head-badge and told it I was sending it away. It has been replaced by a Trek 950 from AMCO, and a Basso Loto from Shop Dog Bikes. A pretty fair trade for me. But Alas, Another N+1 deal. Smiles, MH

I'm very happy with Tektro dual pivot calipers. They leave me wanting nothing. In fact, I think I like them better than MAFAC Racers. Notice that I mounted the rear one in front of the seat stays so the cable stop on the caliper is on the same side as the one on the frame. It looks weird but works fine.

As Andy said, mine is a 1974. He might be wrong, though. I have fenders and 32mm tires, and there is room for a little more, I don't know how much. I'll take a look when I get a chance.

Mercifully, neither bottom bracket nor seatpost was particularly problematic...
However...
Bottom bracket needing a good cleaning and has its requisite wasp buddy (which may or may not contain dinosaur DNA). Of course, another Campy English bottom bracket to add to the five other I do NOT need.
Someone had an interesting take on lightening the seatpost. Wedge cutoff and drillium. That will be offered up to someone who does not need took much length.
However...
