Trek OCLV 120 vs. 110
I recently rode a Trek 5.2 - 120 OCLV carbon - followed by a Trek 5.9 Madone - 110 OCLV. It seemed to me that the 120 rode better and was a lot more comfortable (the 110 was fine, it just seemed harsher). I didn't think there was that much difference (although I understand that there is a lot of difference if you go to the 55). Did I miss something, or is the 110 noticeably harsher than the 120?

Hi,
the 110 seems more "solid" than the 120, the 110 seems to have less vibration absortion. Also very noticeable is that the 110 is much faster when going out of the saddle, it really rocks. I got a Madone SL 5.9, previously had a 5500 (year 2003), and overall the Madone rolls faster, but especially when climbing out of the saddle.
Greetings,
Rob

Can you tell the difference while in the saddle is well spinning, or do you have to really crank on it to notice the difference? I ride mostly in the saddle, so out of the saddle performance is not as important to me and I won't give up comfort for it.

In what i perceived when changed from the 5500 to the Madone:
Riding both in and out of the saddle was faster, much more responsive and smooth (pedaling). You can just go slow or hammering down, there's always a difference. The thing is that out of the saddle is when I noticed the greatest difference between the two bikes, I must say I was surprised for like a month of how the bike performed.
Bye,
