To the mountain biking community, that is.
I continued my memberships in IMBA and my local club, the Greensboro Fat Tire Society.
In conjunction with the GFTS, I did layout and performed construction of 4.5 miles of new single track and began scouting 2.5 more miles today.
And that's not to mention all the thankless work I do here on bikeforums.
I'm interested to hear what types of things y'all did to further the cause, or what you've got planned for the new year ahead.

I didn't do much this year, but for '09 i'm joining the local trailbuilding group (earthriders) and helping build a bunch of new trails (6 miles?) at the park right near home that i ride 90% of the time.

Don't you owe even more trailwork for that?
I only put in about 20 hours of trailwork this year, a low for a while for me, but had to move this year (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it). About half of it in SF with the Mt Sutro Stewards, rest just doing little bits here and there in places I like to ride, but informally. Will do substantially more in 2009 in a variety of areas in the SF Bay Area...

I helped some people make a movie (but I stole some footage to use for a project). Since I started riding (for real) off road at the end of spring, I have not really done much to contribute. I joined the local OMBA club a few months ago, and things have never quite worked out for me to help with trail work. I hope to do a butt load more in 09.

I wish I had the time to help with trail building, but I do help with membership and contributions. I am a member of IMBA Canada. I also contribute to the IMBA Trail Building Fund. I do also occasionally buy some IMBA swag.

I've just though of this: unofficially, I've built some trails on unused/land that was "useless". Going to do that more tomorrow.

My work this year has been more cerebral than physical. I did get out for one of the Fat Tire Trail Riders Club (our local IMBA affiliate) workdays; but should have done more.
For the FTTRC, though, I did: publicity work for their season-opener trail ride fund-raiser; co-wrote and and did graphic design work for a grant application to the National Park Service for trail signage; and helped write and did graphics/layout for summary documents for the club's design symposium with the American Society of Landscape Architects.
I also was point-person/organizer/course co-designer/head go-fer/logistics person for our third annual Beacon Blowout downhill race in Spokane.
For 2009, I intend to get more involved in the hands-on projects with the FTTRC and organize another race in addition to the Blowout.

I blessed the trails of the world with my holiness.
Also I helped build/repair trails.
