Design Research- Eye Protection
Hi, i'm a product design student in the UK...
Im currently researching a brief which is mainly focussed on Eye protection within sports and outdoor activities.
I myself, am a keen mountain biker and would find it useful to hear from other riders in order to bring together some interesting concepts. Obviously, posting on this website, i am researching the area of "eye protection within MTBing" but any alternative thoughts about this kind of stuff in other sports would be greatly appreciated.
I have briefly researched and seen opportunities for things like:
Folding glasses/goggles
Storage for goggles
alternative means of cleaning the lense (squeegie/windscreen wiper lens?)
Recording rides via Goggle camera
Lights incorporated into the goggles
Heads up information
Elasticated strap to hold on sunglasses
Cross breed of sunglasses/goggles
Music in goggles/shades
These are very vague at the moment, i need to establish whether these have any scope and/or whether there are any other areas in which i could focus? I need to know what you guys would wear and what you wouldnt be seen dead in!

Keep in mind that in order to provide effective eye protection, the lenses must be made of polycarbonate plastic, which does not crack or shatter like acrylics. Also the thickness minimum is 3mm, IIRC, based on a USA standard for eye protection Z-87.

It is certainly more difficult now since there is no real depth perception. I have to rely upon shadows and moving my head around a lot to gain perspective.
