Need to fast
it feels as though I need to do a 24 hour fast to cleans my system.
Need to not be under-fueled for the 300.
how does one spell "clens" "cleans" ??
only problem is that my 300 pre-ride starts in 30 1/2 hours. Need to not be under-fueled for the 300.

Good news! You don't need to do a 24 hour fast to cleanse your system. Your liver and kidneys have it all under control.

You don't understand.
I feel as if I need to take a huge dump, and have felt that way more-or-less continuously for several days.
And, yes, I have produced significant bowel movements in those days.
And before anyone goes all crazy diagnosing: DON'T.
I'm confident that by the time I complete the 300, I won't have that feeling any more.

Not an answer but what I used to do before important races; 5 days before, a hard, draining (say) 120 miles. Next two days, very little carbs, focusing on protein and fat. The switch to high carbs for two days. Last 24+ hour, just fruit and fruit juices; as much as I wanted. Basically classic carbo-loading with a cleansing last day. Result? I started the race feeling really clean and light. Fuel to burn all day and very strong at the end of hard races. Drawback was that I would be a little slow for the early miles. Still, in my best race, I rode near the front easily from the beginning in a rce that was going to go on and break the course record (with a speed of 27.2 - long before aero anything).
I loved that my bowels felt so clean after that 24 hours. It is my feeling, based in large part on that experience that fruit/fruit juice probably will do more of what you want than just fasting. Yes, your bowels will not be colonoscopy ready clean but everything will move. (If you do fast, drink a lot of water. Some electrolytes with it wold probably be smart.)

cleanse. But don't do that. In fact, it's too late to do anything except eat normally, mostly carbs, and get a good night's sleep, except you can't do that latter. So the ride starts at 0300? So you'll start getting ready at what, 0100? So counting back, you should go to bed at 1600 the day before. You posted this at 2125 so ideally you get up at 0200, have a normal day, eat normally but go to bed way early. Of course you should have been asleep already when you posted so you can't do the only thing you could have done to have a better ride. You could have a smoothie when you get up, 1/4c flavored whey protein, 1 raw egg, 1 tsp vanilla, 1 banana, 6 oz. whole milk, and as much honey as necessary to make it sweet. That'll go through you as well as anything, plus it's good for you.

Wait, your going to not eat any food for 24 hours and then 6 hours after that ride a 300k? sounds like a terrible idea to me.

Now, Eric, you know who I am.
You certainly could look up my RUSA results.
I don't recall if I reduced my intake before the 300 or not.
I do recall that I didn't consume much during the ride.
Certainly not as much as my buddy, whom I coaxed, cajoled, etc. through his first ever 300.
Harv commented two or three times that he thought he was "done" and needed to call his wife.
I was having none of that, and "made" him keep riding.
Believe me. Harv was no where near "done" at any point during the ride.
I felt much better than I did a year ago, particularly my legs did not ache for three or days as they had done last year
When I did the same 300 as a virtual solo pre-ride after having done almost no rides at all the previous five months.
I refer to "virtual solo pre-ride" last year because there were two other guys doing the 300 as a pre-ride that day.
Well, I can't fine Ende's blog, so ... no link to a possibly interesting write-up of that pre-ride.
So, here is a link to last year's 300 pre-ride write-up: ( Irregular Velo Adventures: Apr-22: Pre-Ride of Apr-28 Raleigh Region 300 ).
I yet to write anything about this year's 300.
So I'll include this: I felt great during and after the ride.
Oh, I did do a pre-ride report for the route this year: ( https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/.../messages/7415 )
It wouldn't be of interest to anyone other than those who rode the brevet-proper, so don't waste your time.
I'm confident I did a pre-ride report last year, but I'm not going to take the time to find it.

Oh, for Eric and others from up north that think it gets hot on your 600's,
The Raleigh Region 600 will be June 8th.
It goes from Morrisville (SW of Raleigh) to Wilmington, NC and back.
Flat, fast, and usually HOT with headwinds at least one direction (sometimes both).

Heat is no big deal if I'm acclimated to it. For example, I didn't have heat related problems on Taste of Carolina when it was in August and the roads were melting. It's just hard for us northerners to get acclimated in the spring. Even now, I'm not sure I have ridden this year when it was above 80F.

I recollect that it was only hot on 1 1/2 days of that Taste, and that it was pretty cool one day, and that there was some rain. I didn't volunteer that year, nor did I ride, but I was following friends via Facebook. I recall that your Taste was the one that I joined Facebook just so I could follow the action.
As for heat on the 600 -- understand that often we'uns that live here are also NOT acclimated to heat when the early June rolls around (sometimes the 600 has been in late May, but it still can get plenty hot, and likely without acclimation). Here's an extract from my 2013 blog report of that year's 600:

This makes 3 posts today. That should suffice for a few months.

Heat.
We have only a few days so far this year with high temps in the 80's;
I don't recall cycling-about on any of those days.
So ... straight from riding in high temps in the 70's and into the 90's.
(All temps are in degrees Fahrenheit -- you do the Celsius conversion.)
I always LOVE riding in heat with no chance to have acclimated.
NOT !
