Thought my slight brake rub from new pads would go away on the way to work, but it turned into a banshee wail. Trip home in 90º is going to be an assault on the senses.

Current model suggests mid-afternoon (3-4PM) for the rain, but stay tuned. I wish I could bail from work early, especially on Mondays which are my worst days. Gotta go!

Almost certainly a sticky piston which wasn't a problem until the new pads went in. Will clean and lube tonight.

Eesh. Good luck with that. These Shimano pistons look like a pain in the ass to try and service. When my bleed block slipped and a piston got wonky and started leaking, I took about 5 minutes of putzing before deciding to just buy a new caliper.

I have never done it, but, this being BF, I'll expert off anyway. You put the plastic insert they give you for servicing the things (not the bleed block) in there to keep the pistons from popping out (instant rebuild), apply a little of the Oil of Aphrodite with a cotton swab, work the brakes a bit, and it's everythings it's okay.

Our Belize trip, scheduled to start tomorrow, has been cancelled for the second time. The windshield wiper motor gave out on a car with 20,000 km. Sad! Sadder yet is we're in the heart of the rainy season, whence we can expect rain daily, and the new motor will be 6 days in transit from Guadalajara. Not only can we not go to Belize, but also we effectively can't use the car after mid day. I'm beginning to see why folks in these parts generally don't make plans.
I had the car in on Friday for the same issue and, since they couldn't reproduce it in the dryness of the shop, they refused to believe there was a problem. It mattered not whether it worked in the rain. Mrs Seeds was stranded for a time, yesterday afternoon, with a car full of women and food, at the beach, in driving rain and no wipers.
I was more than a little aggressive upon arriving this morning, but ultimately left apologetically. Of the three dealerships in the city, I have already burned my bridges at one of them, and have yet to visit the third. Their estimate to replace one of the tail light lenses was US$350, just for the part. I declined the offer.
Edit: Will my full coverage insurance cover damages that I inflicted myself? I back into something I couldn't see.
