Winter Tires on a Redline 925 With Fenders?
Hi all ---
I am trying to decide between buying a Raleigh One Way and the Redline 925. I live in Connecticut, where the snow is often cleared away quickly but still leaves slush and salt. There is also lingering ice from time to time -- hence my desire to put larger tires on my future fixie in the winter.
The Raleigh comes stock with 700 x 35 cc winter tires _and_ fenders, whereas the Redline is down to 700 x 30 cc. Does anyone know how large a tire the Redline 925 can take?
As I've never ridden either of these bikes, I am also open to the idea that tire size isn't that big a deal. I've only ridden mountain bikes with huge tires in the winter, and so I'm a bit skittish about switching to smaller tires now. But I've gotten addicted to road cycling over the summer, and I am determined to enjoy the stiffer ride through the snow and sleet.

I'd go for the Raleigh if it comes stock like that. With the included fenders, I imagine you'd have a hard time getting anything bigger that 700x30 winter tires on the 925.

you won't get 35's into a paddy wagon. especially with fenders.
35's + fenders in a 925 will be a very tight fit if it is possible. Somehow i doubt it'll work.
your best bet will be the One-Way. The limitation with the 925/Paddy Wagon/etc is the brake caliper. There just isn't really any room to stuff a fat tire in a regular long reach brake caliper. Cantis win here.
