Well damn.

I was in the bidding for a ROTOR take off 46/30 crankset...but lost the bidding. These evidently are OEM equipment on some bikes and the only way you ever see them is take-off auctions.


Would probably have been a nice stiff crank too.

And it seems even deep into 2017 you can't find them anywhere. Way to go FSA!

Yeah, I'd have bid on that too for more than it went for. That's what comes on the high-end Felt VR2, where on my VR5 they went with a cheaper FSA with 48/32 rings.

I have one on "backorder" with my LBS, who informed me that FSA told them "late May to early June," so we'll wait and see...

Which model did you order? I need this one waiting to hear back from my LBS on whether they can get it. This one is an OEM for Spsecialized, so my guess is FSA is backordered because they are filling all their orders first.

Yes, that is the one that I'm waiting for. I was hoping to get it before a trip that I have scheduled for early June, but doubt that it will be here by then. As long as it gets here before August I can wait.

Oh good! Well at least I know they actually exist other than in pictures! Hopefully they will come back to me with info and I can put a backorder in for it. This one is a DM and my current is a FSA Gossamer with a spider 110 ABS I think...Hoping this will be an easy swap out.

I'm honestly starting to doubt it is coming. Seriously it was announced over a year ago this month, and still no retail stock.

Like the ROTOR cranks, vapor ware for oems only it seems.

That's a nice set at a good price.

I ended up getting the WI 46/30. Needed the parts now, and figured it would give me much more gearing flexibility in the future.

Absolutely great bike, but not much chance to ride it since I got it last Fall. I'll know more in a few weeks after I've taken my first multi-day, multi-surface rides on it. I'll let you know.

FWIW, I am already regretting the square taper BB regression. The rest of the WI crankset seems fine, so the new 30mm version is probably a better option for those able to use it.

Hopefully the FSA SL-K 46/30 comes out soon....


For the R30 WI crank....$300 arms/spider+$175 rings+ $100 BB cups....for alloy cranks is pretty cray. Makes the sub-$400 for carbon arm SL-K look like a steal.

I think the SUGINO OX901D Compact Plus Crankset might be a cost-effective (as opposed to inexpensive) alternative.

Just got a call from my LBS that FSA is ready to ship my crank out and they wanted to verify my crank-arm length, etc. They said it should be in sometime next week. I'll let y'all know!

Another (cheaper) option would be to get a Rotor 3D crank on eBay and try and source a 46/30 ring from Europe.

BTW. I got my WI 46/30 rings for $135.

Well, it's here and in my shop downstairs. Unfortunately I won't be able to get it installed for another couple of weeks, but I'll let you know how I like it when I do.

My LBS ordered it, directly from FSA I believe. It was on back-order for about a month before it finally arrived.

Sorry to be a bother, but her it is almost July and I can’t find this crankset anywhere. It even seems to have disappeared from the FSA web site.

It’s not your adventure crankset, right? This is a slightly upgraded version if I remember correctly.

Any hints on where I can find this product, or if it exists?

The crankset is in stock, so any bike shop will be able to order it using that part #. Since we are a wholesaler, any shop can either order the cranksets via their distributor network or by contacting FSA directly.

Use the below part # to place an order for a set around that time via most bike shops. You will what to find out what bottom bracket standard Motobecane used. I say why not? I did something similar with a mountain bike I had many years ago. Everybody is different, and I believe this actually made me faster even though I was turning the crank at a higher RPM. Everything and body has a sweet spot. Go for it and see how it works for you. If you don't like it, you can always either change it back, or try something different yet.
