Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I never got into Nutella. Got an assortment of fancy fruit spreads recently. This week, the "J" in my PB&J is frais de bois strawberry.

35* is about my bootie/toe cover break point - booties below, covers above. YMMV obviously.

Your body will get used to the efforts as you progress - stuff like the lower back pain will go away. That hunger may go away, too. My morning rides are usually fasted - nothing other than a latte and cup of tea before, and usually nothing more than a granola bar on the bike, if anything, even on metric centuries.

They have essentially the same puncture resistance tech for the tread. I just have lots of nasty chipseal roads full of glass on my route. If I had better bike handling skills, I think I would buy the super supple Rene Herse tires, but for now I will see how the Gravelkings do. They're actually really similar tires, I just assume I'm giving up some weight and suppleness for at least a perceived benefit of durability.

EDIT: Actually, I guess Panaracer makes the tires for Rene Herse? and the Gravelking + is the same weight as the standard casing Bon Jon Pass? And the tread is basically identical? Not even sure what the real difference is at this point.
Gravelking slicks are good tires in my experience. I've run some 28s and had no major complaint, other than that they are super tight to get on and off the wheel.

Indeed Panaracer makes the RH tires. I'm not sure what exactly the secret sauce is for the Rene Herse stuff compared to the rest of Panaracer's offerings. I know that I've read something on their blog but Jan is a prolific writer and there's a lot there to dig through. I thing the gist of it is that they use some different fiber materials and maybe arrangements in the casing, and maybe do some other tweaks.

I only got into Nutella about 10-15 years ago because of my kids. It's tasty. Think chocolatey peanut butter. But it's hazelnut based.

Just bare steel. I had the cantilever posts and shift bosses brazed on.

If everything is chrome in the future, then the future must have started in 1977

I was suprised my ass didn’t hurt. But the padding in my china made bibs works out well. The pain in my legs when I was done was crazy. I don’t think it was from over working, I think it was from the cold. Nothing seemed to help, I tried laying down, stretching, walking. Getting old no bueno.

With that being said, now that I’m warm and full I’m ready to try for the 62 again.
