Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

That's like when Steam was giving away Portal for free. I lost an entire evening. I heard GladOs' voice in my dreams that night...

Today I spent a couple hours wrenching on bikes in the projects for National Night Out. Rode home under an AMAZING sunset. Shopped for pomade. Currently eating chix and jojos, greasing up my laptop keyboard.

Started my morning off right with a bowl of mini-wheats, a friend came over and we rode bike paths in my neighborhood. Stopped at Starbuck's, and some old guy checked out my bike while cruising by in his SUV. feelsgoodman.jpg

Now I get to watch Olympic track cycling on the teevee while I wait for the HVAC guy to come over, and tonight will probably consist of a couple loops at Miller's Meadow. I freaking love having a day off mid-week. I should go pick up a sixer and do this in style.

I start a 4x10 job today. Apparently pretty standard for cooks in Seattle. I'm used to 4x10 + 1x16 in NYC. What the hell am I gonna do with myself 3 days a week?

Today I:

I worked on the shop's Xtracycle bike and have been allowed to order whatever to make it snazzy. It is way too fun to ride.

Today I was surfing around fleabay and noitced that some people are just plain dumb to bid well over MSRP for a used item that is still readily available at a chain store/ estore that's everywhere aka apple store.

Of course how about those water bottle holding things made out of moo that we were talking about?

~~On another note, I'm thinking of putting in a order to PBK, what worthwhile priced item(s) should I get to make the wait worth it and the single item less lonely in the PBK shipping bag?

found out that although my wife is being laid off, her company provides for 10 weeks of salary matching, making up the difference from unemployment.

sprinted across town on the sscx to help move furniture/junk at church. can't remember the last time i was sweating from the back of my hands...

went from 48:16 to 48:18 on the singlespeed'ed Pake Rumrunner. unfortunately i was a little aggressive with original rear wheel placement and will need a new chain with the 18t freewheel to get frame clearance. :/ ah well, gave Scrod my monies for chains and a new cog for the 722.

Some red Trek 400s are better than others. If it was a 1988 Trek 400T, then you ain't missing much.
