Giant matchup - Trance vs Reign
I am looking at getting my first full-suspension mtb at the Pros Closet (got a big credit there). I am hoping for a trail bike, but I will be riding it 3-5 miles to get to the hilly parts over mostly flat terrain. From reviews, the Giant Trance would be a good fit, however when I compare it to a Giant Reign they also have, I can't really tell why it would not be just as good. Here are the contenders:
Trance: trail bike

32lbs 13 oz
160mm/140mm F/R
27.5 x 2.5" tires
head tube: 67 deg
seat tube: 73.5 deg
Reign: enduro

33lbs 2oz
160mm/146mm F/R shocks
29" x 2.5" tires
head tube: 65 deg
Seat tube: 76.8 deg
So clearly the Reign has a slacker head tube, but for weight, travel, even suspension design they are really close. I am not planning on any gnarly gravity-induced riding (I am too old and getting brittle) but would the Reign really feel that much heavier for the flat parts? With the 29's that should make it roll better, and frankly I like the look better and its cheaper.
So anyone here have experience riding both of these that can give me an informed opinion? I'll listen to the arbitrary opinions too, this is the internet after all.
