Lucas Brunelle?
I've not seen him or heard of him or his videos in a while now. Is that dude still out there doing the thing he does?

He was at the Dude Abides race in early march and was in a picture for some bicycling mag this month that covered the 5 borough ride.

he does critical mass all the time. Last I heard he was going through an ordeal to get his road bike fixed, which he did. But then again, this was like during the summer.
Most times I saw him though, he was at his company's office being productive on the other end of things for himself.
Super nice guy, awesome awesome figure in bike culture and bike awareness and equal rights.

Lucas works all the time and travels a great deal. Super nice guy, besides providing us all with the best helmet cam action out there he also donates some of his time to the BMEF.
I'm down for a copy or 2 of any dvd he puts out as well, so when it happens I bet someone of all the people here interested in them will post a thread about it

I was waiting to pick up a patient at a hospital and I was looking through a Time magazine and on the very last picture of Mr Brunelle...... riding his bike...... underwater...... with scuba gear on.

Fun films to watch - but...
...they basically show guys who rely on other people to get out of the way so they can have fun. The New York vid is a lesson in how not to ride a bike. I don't consider blowing red lights and making pedestrians scatter good cycling. Nor do I think making cars who have the right of way jam on the brakes to be good riding either.
And is taking up all the road with some sofa turned into a bike helpful to us as we ride to work? Will it make drivers see us as law-abiding road users with an equal right to use the roads? No, the guys we should be thanking are the tourist associations - riders who remember to use hand signals and stop at lights.
I couriered for years, but I never made peds scatter or relied on cars to stop. I still kept up with guys who won alleycats.
That said, the vids are fun to watch (hey, I like watching Police, Camera, Action too) and Brunelle seems like a nice guy.

They showed a pretty long compilation of his stuff at the bicycle film festival last year (in LA anyway). The great wall stuff was in it, which is awesome, as well as most of the drag race video, which looks even more insane on a big screen.

There's lots of helmet cam footage out there, I've never seen any as smooth as Lucas that wasn't being shot in a controlled environment.

I told my mom that one of the vids was me commuting to work. She was believing me until she recognized Times Square.
Definately not "good example" videos, but still loads of fun to watch.

I saw him and drunkenly confronted him at the bar after Monster Track this year. I told him "the wait for the Great Wall video is killin' me" and I seem to remember him saying something along the lines of "bull**** at home" so with the aid of my rum and coke I wittily retorted "eeeeesh"

I just saw that he has a new video on his website. It's not the Great Wall video, it's one of him riding on a busy Mexico City highway. It's pretty good, and that last car he skitches on gets him MOVING! https://www.digave.com/videos/
