FS: Suntour Cyclone/Mavic Wheelset (126mm)
Hello folks,
SOLD... This lovely wheelset comprised of a smooth set of sealed-bearing Suntour Cyclone hubs laced to anodized Mavic rims (G40 rear and MA40 front). The skewers are mismatched, with the front being the original Suntour and the rear being Specialized. The rear wheel is slightly out of true and the front seems to run very straight. I took these wheels off a bicycle I was restoring because they did not match the era of the frame and other components and have never ridden them. They appear to be ready to go but as usual with such things, eventually (and in my experience any time) the sealed bearings could require maintenance or replacement. The wheels were apparently built up by Wheel Smith back in the day based on the decal set on the rear wheel. The front spacing is 100mm and rear is 126mm.
As I know the original owner of the bicycle these were fitted to, I am aware that they were well-ridden and also well taken care of. The braking surface is smooth but as can be expected after use the anodized surface is worn along that part of the rims. They look like they have a lot of serviceability left in them. Please note that in one photo there appears to be a slight distortion on one of the rims but I did not notice anything like that while handling them for cleaning and photographing yesterday, so I think that is a trick of the light.
SOLD! Thanks for looking!
