Hah, thank you. I'm still trying to get the fit right, reach is currently shorter than my crit bikes and I kind of like it. Crit bikes: elbows bent in the drops still mostly forward of knees, on the Ritte the knees are well inside my arms. I guess I'll grab a bag of stems from the shop and make some adjustments at hellyer tomorrow

Start with a 120mm stem. Not sure why you started with that 70(?)mm TT bar stem.

I had all the spare parts at my folks' house during the build and that 90 is the only one I had here - I'll see what the 120 feels like

Drivetrain has since been switched to Campy Records + a D.I.D chain + Dura-ace spocket equaling one fairly loud drivetrain!

Ended up with 100mm stem, so only a cm longer than pictured. I have super long legs and an average arm length, TT bikes don't fit right either hah.

Nice, looking forward to actually seeing how I fare in a real race. Flyers in mock scratch races are fun and all but I don't think I could maintain 30 for again as many laps. You going to the winter race series?

First impressions:

I don't find the flex (yet) with the endurance fork, but I can see how not tightening something could get you there. But there are so many contact points and so little tolerance in everything that its a solid setup with the right bars. But maybe Im not strong enough for it to matter.

The 3T seat clamp is stupid. So hard to make micro adjustments in seat angle. Also Im that far forward and still 7-8cm back from BB. Oh well.

The drop is huge, but honestly pretty normal for a 6'4 guy and felt fine. Might bring it up a touch, need to figure out how much reach I really want as its a big change from my last bike.

My new old track riding bike. Don't race or train any more, but occasionally go to the track and ride around fast enough so I don't slide off the 44 degree banking on the turns. I have a Bianchi Pista Concept that I used to race, but it has been roadified, so I don't want to swap out the fork, bars and stem every time I go to the track. I've had this VISP frameset lying around unused for several years, and was able to rebuild it at zero cost with existing used parts.

Shes ready for Hellyer 2016. Rebuilt a front Aeolus 9 to Rear through Phil Wood 130 spaced 18 spoke count, using another aeolus 7 for front. Chainline is perfect putting the outer chainring on the inside, using 3/32 chain and cogs instead of 1/8, but to switch to 14tooth cog I have to switch chains.

If you used a track crank, you'd have a bit more flexibility with gear changes - 1-tooth changes in chainrings don't take up much more chain, so you might be able to find a chain length that works for, like, 49 through 51 to give you a few more options. those short track-ends are indeed the drawback of the conversion.

did it for the kicks, there are few cervelo p3 conversions out there, being this is a tri frame with carbon horizontal ends instead of steel (short as well) Derailleur hangers still intact. I have seen the limitation at the LBS, using a standard chain it was a hassle to put an extra link or two in every time and wheel placement on the short track end was all over the place. We dialed in the limit screw to be perfect for the 16t cog with 50t front and for 14t is just a bit further back but still has enough meat. half link chain on 16t and standard on 14t. My legs are not there yet but If i was going for endurance I could always get a 12t and switch to 53t in front to max out on gear inches, but proper chain length will be yet another puzzle.


is there any difference other than hole placement for 110 vs 130 or 144bcd? Stiffer? 110 seems easier for 3/32.

I would never want short track-ends... but it's really not that big of deal: changing chains is like 30 seconds. Just have 3 chains.

no, the difference between 110 and 144 is that for 144, there is a high-quality chainring in ever size from 42 on up, which lets you make the smallest possible gear changes.
