Agree to disagree. I certainly will be cutting to length though, and the Sette is only 80mm.

Right now I have an ugly-ass old Bontrager MTB stem on my bike, but I still really want to pick up a Dangerboy SR71 for my ride...

What do you mean by 'cut to size'? Do you mean cutting the steer tube down enough that there's no vertical adjustment?

Because who the hell would want to do that?

Why are you fools looking for such short stems? Most every bike is designed with a 100-120mm in mind. The exception would be if you are running bullhorns.

Fair dinkum. I still haven't seen a bmx stem here yet. Only mtb stems. Yeah, bmx stems rock but the reach is so short you'll be wishing for a few more mm after a while. They really are more suited to mtb mods than road, fixed or ss. Still give it a go! We never know unless we try so tell me party people what's yer zodiac sign********************???

BMX stems are for 7/8 inch (22.2mm) bars, MTB risers etc are 25.4mm (1 inch)
might not work too well, but good luck

the stem I have is either 100 or 110mm's, they just look even shorter because they are so bulky. I'd post a picture but doofoo doesnt like my bike and I cant handle ridicule.

I can't speak for others, but I know I just have stumpy arms.

I'm not trying to punk you guys running short stems, but if you have to run 50mm stems (due to stubby arms or otherwise) the frame you are riding is too large for you.

Some of us might also prefer a more upright position...

Just use BMX bars

checklist:
upright riding position - check
barspins - double check
color options - triple check
OURY compatible - quad check

Sounds like a no-fail option to me.

PS: this is/was in jest. If you wanna rock a BMX stem with whatever you've got, go for it. I think they look cool, and have contemplated running one myself.
