Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

No. That's all I'm discussing. I'm not asking pedestrians to do anything. I'm asking cyclists to announce when they pass.

Sidewalks are for pedestrians, so they always have priority there and cyclist are required (usually by law) to yield the right-of-way. However, cities set the rules as to whether cyclist can use can used the sidewalk or not and how they should behave when they are on them.

Typically, downtown or other highly congested sidewalk areas are off limits to cyclist -- and is usually marked. I've seen many cyclist ignore these clear makings and I scold them. Just as I do when pedestrian leave the sidewalk and encroach onto areas clearly designated for cyclist ONLY. If there is an adjacent bike lane on the road or next to the sidewalk, cyclist must use them.

I've seen speed limits on MUP, rarely. But have never read any legal rules anywhere that apply to them. Still, in any case, and at any time safety is always a priority, and the law will expect all adults to use good and prudent judgement when in public. That understand is the universal, and applies at all times and to everyone.

I realized this. But you don't seem to realize that you are never going to get 100% of people to do this 100% of the time and no amount of internet pleading or even MUP yelling, if you do that, is going to change that. So as long as you hold this mentality:

Instead of simply looking behind you before you swerve, you are putting yourself at unnecessary risk.

And by not announcing a cyclist puts us both at risk. So please announce.

I only use my turn signals when the person in the lane I'm moving into, or the person behind me when I'm turning, requires to change their trajectory and/or speed in any way. Otherwise, I don't bother. Discuss.

I use my left arm folded up to make a right hand turn even though I don’t have to hold onto a throttle with my right hand like motorcycle riders did before lightbulbs. Never mind F that crap. I just point and go.

And on the moto, a lot of the time I'd just leave that lightbulb flashing, you know like half the drivers in Del Boca Vista....
