Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Post your Torture Chamber pics!

Ok nothing better to do so here's mine...

The room is above my garage and is kept at about 55 degrees Fahrenheit. Its main use is as a place for me to haphazardly throw things into, as well as causing myself enormous suffering during the winter months. Believe it or not, I still need the fan on at 55 degrees!

The Nordic Track was a (sorta) gift. A friend of mine was moving and had no room in the truck! I have yet to seriously use it, since I can do the real thing right out my door when there is snow..

When I actually open my eyes I am either staring at the powermeter or at vids of MotoGp. The British Eurosport version is the best....

Ok now that I have sufficiently bored everyone...post YOUR torture chamber!

This is the bicycle I currently use on my trainer, except that I've installed a new Brooks saddle. My trainer will sit in that particular location if I'm watching a DVD on my computer:

This is the location of my trainer when not in use:

This is the set-up when my trainer is in use, and when I'm watching TV:

I don't have a Felt. As I recall the red Cannondale was shipped in that box, somewhat pre-owned.

It's a Specialized. It wasn't a horrible saddle for riding outside ... I could manage as much as about 100 kms with it without undue agony ... but it was very painful for riding inside.

I wanted to break in another Brooks anyway (I love my Brooks on my Marinoni), so I figured it was time to replace it ... and maybe I'll be more motivated to ride inside. Although, as you can see from my trainer setup, it's not exactly conducive to motivation.

See the thing with a room like that is you have to be afraid to really sweat in there, blowing snot rockets on the walls and what not people. Unless you people are like Lance and in addition to the coaches, doctors, exercise physiologists, and jerk off specialists you also have someone who wipes the walls and floors or your DNA? Someone could definitely come up with enough of me in that rug to do some cloning.

I went to school with a guy who hiked the Appalachian trail and ran the Boston Marathon with his tuba.
