Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". 1x11 MTB Crankset compatibility w/ 11sp GRX RD?

Hi All,

Trying to achieve a 32T chainring on a 1x setup on my gravel bike build. Thinking of going with an MTB crank with my GRX build. Would there be any problems with using an MTB crank on a road/gravel frame? I know the chainline might be different, but is that a big issue? Prob going to be a GRX 800 series RD in the back - trying to achieve 11-46.

I do not want to run a double up front... and it looks like GRX / Easton cranks won't allow for anything lower than a 38T up front.

Will a road chain work with an MTB crank? Looking at a Deore XT or something like this from shimano (https://bike.shimano.com/en-US/produ...C-M8000-1.html)

Thanks any input is greatly appreciated!

An MTB crankset will work fine. The chain is not different between road and MTB. The chainline is not an issue. GRX chainline is wider than road anyway.

Agree with dsaul , should work fine with some support from Lennard - scroll all the way down.
