So last night I was on EBay and seen a bomber Clone frame for 229.99. Been looking at building one but most of the frames go for $600 and up. Thought I won't get it but put a bid on it. Well today I got it for the $299.99. Went On Amazon and got a rear shock for the frame. A DNM Damping 2 system MTB Rear Shock 750 lbs load, got it at a good price. So now I have to find the right forks for it. I want to go with double shoulder Downhill MTB forks. Maybe Zoom or Bolany forks. but most of them use 20mm axles, I have never uses a 20mm Axle but like the Ideal. As for the Hub Motor I think I'll just use my 52v 1800 Watt motor. Run the numbers and it should do 36 mph and with my 20ahr battery I will get a rang of 20 miles at full throttle, or around 27 at 30mph. And there is enough room I could add a 2nd battery like the one I have to increase the range to 40 miles at full throttle. So I am looking for input on what you guys think I should do for Forks and or other parts for the new build. Let me know what you guys think. This will be my 4th E-Bike build.

Fortunately you're in TX which AFAIK allows almost anything with pedals to go anywhere (but I could be wrong); in CA it would stick out like the proverbial sore thumb and not allowed in off road areas except where ATV's are permitted. The forks you mention should be great for the street and some DNM for dirt. I've dealt only with Fox and Rock Shox so not familiar with them. Let us know how well it goes together and rides.

Thanks for the input. I was looking at RockShox forks but their are like 500.00. I know their good for off road. I found some DNM forks for about the same price as the Zooms.

Ok found out a few things about the frame. Looks like it's a fat tire frame. the rear drop out is 177mm. But that's good with me. so looking for a 4" hub motor kit to fit the swing arm. And I'll run a 2.5 or 3" up front to give it more of a motorcycle look. This bike build is for a road bike. So it won't see a lot of off road use.

I gave up the car thing and am E- Bike all the way. from January till now I have put 1400+ miles on my E-Bike. Here is a photo of my current E-Bike that I use daily. As you can see I ride road only on it.

e-bikeling rear motor; good choice. You should be able to find a DD rear hub with that spacing or close enough to space it. I think em3ev may have a MAC (geared, but good system) with 170mm.

I found this Motor/wheel kit for the build. It's a 3000W Rear Wheel Hub Motor Electric Bike Conversion Kit + Disc Brake for $530.00. 26x4 inch wheel; 48V3000W-50-55km/h(35miles/h). 45N./M rated, 85N./M Max. Has a 60A controller with 24MOPZ Tube.170mm rear dropout and they say it will max out at 35 mph. But running these numbers through a e-bike app, it should do about 43 mph at 60a and 52v. Or I could get a kit from Ebikeling ( that's A Ebikeling 1500w kit on the bike I have now). The cost is about the same for both of them.

I have a 52v 20ahr 40a BMS battery and would add a second battery to match. That will give me a total output of 80a. So the motor and controller won't over work the battery.

As for Tires I will want street tires for the new build so if you know of any 26"x4" street tires please let me know. thanks

Kenda has them and, as usual, they start with a "K". Look at Bikes Direct's web site for their fat tire cruiser which I think uses them.

Edit: Innova (look at ebay $70 for a pair; maybe Duro, but expensive.

Tanks. remember I'll put a 4" fat on the back and the front will be a 3" or so. to give it more of a motorcycle look.Just want them to look more like street tires then MTB.

The Frame will be here the 29th. So the build will start the next weekend if I can get all the parts in on time.

I emailed Ebikeling for a Motor Kit. But all they have is a 1200w fat tire kit.

So Next I need to line out a Motor kit. looking for a 3000w 48v Kit with a 60 amp controller and a 175mm drop out size. The reason for the 48v kit is that I already have a 52v 20 amp hour 40 amp BMS battery and would like the add a second battery to it. For a total amp hour rating of 40Ahr at 52v and the 2 BMS would give a 80 Amp max pull. That should get me a top speed of at least 45mph and a range of 29 miles at full speed. The streets i ride are mostly 30mph speed limit. So with this set up I can go 30mph and have a 56 mile range. And still have a little more speed when needed. Should get me to 30mph in 5 seconds.

I bought the Frame on ebay from allinone168. All they have is the frames. It is a fat bike frame so you will need a 170mm motor to fit the drop outs. It comes with the bottom bracket installed. $229.99 + $39.99 shipping

Just need to the cranks and motor kit, still looking. I did find a 48v 2000w 40A kit but waiting to hear from the seller. I will update the lest as I get more parts for the bike.

Found a supplier for a 48v 2000w motor kit for $253.00 total cost with shipping. Will past a link once I work out all the details. They have the Zoom 680H forks for $68.00 also.

As for the rear shock, it came in today but no mount bolts. trying to find one for it now. If any one knows where I can get the thread Barrel and screw (8mm x 31.75mm) please let me know.

I will say that you guys have me thinking about this one. However, I am still working on step one.

Step one, for me, is researching. Both looking at frames and getting information about licensing. I am more interested in a mid-engine, belt drive frame. Yes, the manufacturer calls it a bicycle, but as I am quick to say here, a bicycle is defined by law. So that leaves me looking at licensing it. I suspect that will be its own learning experience.

In CA, it's a moped, and needs licensing as well as insurance AFAIK. This is what killed the market for them years ago out here..

The trouble is that here it is nearly impossible to "create" a moped. To register a moped is easy, you just provide the county assessors office with the VIN and pay the taxes. The issue is that there is no way to generate a VIN for anything except a car/truck, Trailer, or Motorcycle. As I said, I am looking onto it.

However, this is becoming an "endless sphere" discussion as it is veering away from ebikes.

The construction isn't an "e-bike" since they're identified as < 750w. In CA, some individuals have procured licenses for "mopeds" using the serial number (whether that is correct/legal or not). I'm really interested in the various aspects of the assembly of this project.

Well in Texas law says that you can ride on the road with a top speed of 20mph as a e-bike. the only definition of a e-bike is that it has to have peddle drive system and the top speed of 20mph when the motor cuts off. A e-bike is a bicycle by the Texas laws.. You still have to fellow the laws of the road. I built a e-bike for one of the cops in my town. His top speed is 40mph. LOL I guess that's why they don't pull me over.There is a other guy ridding a bomber in my town, I seen him once. also there are 4 e-bike builds that I have seen ridding around the town on the roads at above 20mph. Also Texas law says you can ride e-bike and mopeds on the sidewalks. I took the two Blue wires, speed limiter wires, and connected them to a switch. So when going on roads I hit the switch and I am good to go. Also I have tail , break and turn singles installed on the bike.

Just made the order for the motor kit 48v 2000w 40amp controller. along with the Fat KKE fat forks, LCD SW900 display, Front Fat wheel (non motor wheel) and rear shock mount bolts for 630.00 total after shipping.It will be here in a month or so. IF I bought the 2000w motor kit here it's around 625.00.

OK took 2 months to get the motor and wheels along with the forks in but there here today.

So now lets talk tires. 1srt the rims 26" x 80mm rims. Looks like a 3.8" tire to a 4.8" tire will fit these rims. the Alta Bicycle Tire Duro 26" x 4.00 i messaged about before are 3" wide not 4". So their not a good fit. any ideals about a good street fat tire for this build? let me know
I'll have to get a steam and bars and a crank set. Think I'll go with a 7 speed freewheel.

Dose anyone know where I can find rear shock mount bolts? I know the mount are 25mm wide and the bolts are 12mm rad.but the shock has a 12mm to 8mm tube spacer in it.

on't think you can go too wrong with Origin8. Pretty good supply of very acceptable merchandise FME (although I haven't purchased any tires from them).
