Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I wasn't a big fan of the Orca, but the red-black scheme:

That SLC-SL is in dire need of deep section wheels... lightweights, LEW, Zipp all come to mind ... nice ride though.

That Madone up there is damn hot too, although it looks like you might impale yourself on the the steerer tube .. cut that thing!

Ya, I know. I have been looking at some Mavic Cosmic Carbone Ultimates, but that's another 3 grand.

Zipp clydes would be fine I hear ya though... nice full carbon wheels are kind of pricey.

Just picked her up today. Actually, about 4 hours ago, I was in the shop getting fitted . Ah. My first road bike. and in the infamous words of Bilbo Baggins (from Lord of the Rings): "It'sssssss. mmmmiiinnneeeee. My own...... my PRECIOUS." It's a trek 1500 with 105 components . Picked it up for $950. I am SOOOOO looking forward to tomorrow's ride. and yes. I do know that the spoke reflectors and the "dork disk" is also. But you know what? I really don't care. Little story. I was telling my dad all about the bike at supper, and I said "the frame is aluminum." and he immediately jumped in with "Geeze. for $900, you should be getting titanium." . (Just goes to show you how much my dad knows about bikes). Yup. I did finally manage to convince my parents to let me spend my money on a bike.
