Took a chance on a Merckx

This was listed on the eBay and Craigslist thread, big thanks to camelopardalis for picking it up and shipping it to me. A wash down and rebuild and I'm really pleased with the results. I thought it was going to need a repaint, but I'm just going to touch it up.

Cool bike, I seem to remember it was a real good price. Is it a Professional?

I think it's a Corsa, someone correct me if I'm wrong. Even with bike shop shipping, it turned out pretty well price wise.

Serial number should tell you if it's a Corsa or a Professional.

Nice catch. Always good to see BF members snagging good bikes at good prices. Does take some diligence and sustained enthusiasm. Congrats @sloar.
Serial number decoding is online. Sorry to have lost the link.
SLX Corsa Extra is super smooth in large frame size.

And yes - more pics when you can!

edit = I too like a flat ramp to the hoods on Ergo.

I recently acquired an Eddy Merckx frame and am in the process building it up. Maybe I can get some help with my serial number. I've looked online but wasn't able to find anything definitive. The s/n is:

A
3X 1849
T

The 'A' is marked above and to the right side of the number '1849'

Thanks for any help.

Yup, I thought it looked '85 -ish, fork crown is same as my '85 Pro and Pista I used to have.

Z = '85
6 = 56 cm
X = Corsa Extra.

Just the crank, crazy mix of parts but I had everything waiting for it. The only thing I kept was the headset.

I saw that one listed, great price. I did a little digging and found that paint, yellow w/white panels, was Lotto team livery. I figured it was a Corsa Extra judging by the fork...really good score. I'm glad it cleaned up so well. That's a great frame. Enjoy.
