and a bleep ton of 10 and 12-pointers with the ability to really animate, shape, control and dominate the race...but which ones...?

some good looking teams with quite a bit of overlapping on our parts. sharing the same six riders with two other participants and five riders with a few others.

that team jv car parked on the blind corner blew it for dqs...hoping the race officials dock the entire jv team a minute. that was utter nonsense.

That was kind of a crazy stage - I want to know the story on the Euskadi - Murias car crash, and what happened to Sepp Kuss!? JV's crash was totally a bummer.
EF is off to a good start. This will be an enjoyable GT for me as I can actually understand a smidgen of the local language
I was lucky to swap in Lopez for Roglic it seems. I had Gilbert but swapped him for Stetina. I'm already seeing that omitting a DQ rider will have me in mid field by the end... Had to go with the American whose season has consisted of non traditional racing. It seems like my pick of Pojacar for wildcard wasn't as unique as I thought!

Yeah that was a heart stopping moment!

2. mechanical, i think.
3. i couldn't justify allocating 24 points on a guy that hasn't won a gt before...especially with this many great climbers in a climbers race. i had a difficult time going in on lopez at 20 points.
there were so many great riders (uran, kruijsin, valverde, poels, etc) that rode the tour to the end and i was trying not to select any of those riders as i wanted only the freshest produce such as
lopez or roglic. i made concessions for riders that crashed out/abandoned the tour halfway through like majka, hart. if kruijsin hadn't raced the tour (and well), he would have been my pick
to win the vuelta. he still may.
4. we'll see what happens here but with aru in a constant state of inconsistency (and having done okay at the tour), pogacar could have a great showing and confirm his status as a rider to fear
for the next decade +.

Well, I'm off to a rather precarious start. I think I've jinxed Jumbo-Visma.
Kinda surprised to see quite a few others picking Sepp Kuss as well.

I'm just catching up on the stage replay now. The start area makes it looks like this is the Hunger Games not la Vuelta. Am I the only one a little weirded out by it?
I still haven't seen the incident yet. My Roku and NBC Sports aren't playing nicely together -- they did that during le Tour, too. The odds are not ever in my favor. Nor were they for J-V who, unfortunately, looked like the JV. Which I may see any minute now....

P.S. I took a quick look at the various teams. I am entirely confident that I have no clue what is going to happen.
Not much play for Valverde. I thought hard about Uran but figured (and now hope) he's a little tired from the Tour. I flirted with the idea of Poels but same. I almost picked Aru but then remembered he is dead to me and I was already giving Louis Lazarus Meintjes a return from the bad place.
So that nicely boxes my range of possible regrets. - Pandora sends.

I guess the car crash was during the recon not actual but still confusing.

Valverde and Quintana sprinting for the line
Argh just realized I passed over Fuglsang as well... after faithfully carrying him through the tour.

except for that one tdf year when valverde wiped out on a tt and couldn't continue and sagan got dq'd for the nonsense run-in with cavendish. yes...
i had both on my team that year. yes...i plumbed the depths of the fantasy league that go round-again.
2. yep. went with the fresh legs. may not be the best strategy.
3; ditto. what harm could a previous top ten candidate gc guy listed as a 6-pointer possibly do...?
nowhere for me to go but down-and hard.

Sergio who? I'm going to be mighty bitter if most of you put a big dig into me because of your mastery of obscure Colombians. I'm already a little bitter my "inside scoop" on obscure Slovenians wasn't that selective.

Another amazing near-crash bike handling demonstration by Nieve! Certainly caused me to take in a sharp breath! Good for Nairo!

I wish I had done that. Nothing worse than hanging around here with a team full of do-nothings like I picked and having @canam73 and @ooga-booga lord it around. Know what I mean, @one4smoke? Oh, maybe not, since I evicted you from the basement.
