Hey from Denver

Hey All,

I rode a lot back in the 90s when I was a much younger and thinner man. I had a cheap Ross bike. It was nothing special, but I rode the heck out of that thing. Of course, as many of these stories end, it was stolen. Bummer. I got a replacement, but I didn't like it as much and just didn't ride as much. Then I got married, had kids, career, life. Just didn't ride anymore. Though I do remember taking my son (who just turned 23) to daycare on a child seat on a bike, but I'll be danged if I can even remember what bike it was.

So here I am at 51 now. Geez. I'm also the heaviest I've ever been an 115. Not good. It wasn't that many years ago I ran a few half marathons. So time to get back in shape.

I've been keeping my eye out for a cheap bike at yard sales and thrift stores. Last night spotted a bike in the neighbor's trash and brought it home. It's really neat. I think it's an 80s Peugeot street bike. I really like it. Needs a little TLC, but not much. I'll have it up and running in no time.

There are awesome trails to bike right near my house and I can't wait to explore them. We still have my wife's old bike from back in the day. It's neglected, but solid, so I should be able to whip it back into shape and we can get out and enjoy the summer on our bikes!

Thanks for reading,

Ed

Welcome, Ed!

If you're scrounging for used bikes, check out the two locations of Bikes Together in Denver. Both locations have tons of used parts and they also sell used but refurbished bikes. Their prices are a little higher than typical craigslist asking prices for similar bikes, but one can assume they don't need any work done for a good while.
