NBC All Access for TDF will provide on demand video for all stages
Not spam, no affiliation to NBC, just a TDF fan relaying what I found out regarding a real question that I've had and have seen many ask.
I noticed the all access had only mentioned live feed on their site so many have wondered if on demand full stage video would be available like it was last year.
I asked the All Access team via email if they would have actual on demand video of the entire stage, and not JUST a live feed followed by short clips.
Here's their response:
"Yes you will still have that feature, All Access Subscribers will have Video on Demand available in addition to live access. Video On Demand will contain all of our coverage of the Tour and not just the live stream.
Regards,
TDF Support"
So if you are like me and don't have VERSUS network then you're still in luck.
Hope that helps

Thanks. I subscribed. Figured I'd give it a go. I can connect my laptop to my tv with a vga cable, so I figure it'll be worth it.

I am super disappointed. The video is great but the commentator is so boring he's putting me to sleep. It isn't Phil and Paul. I thought it would be the versus feed with the guys. They are half the fun for me.
Ok edit: the guys are on now. I guess they start when versus goes live. Much happier now.

On demand of full stage is up, open the stage player (Watch Now) and it'll have the short clips, unfortunately it'll start playing the last clip loaded so you want to pause it to avoid a spoiler.
Then look on the upper left and it shows "More Video" dropdown menu. Go to the option "Full stage replays". It'll have today's full 5+ hour stage.
I'd suggest they did not show images for the videos that spoil the ending, that would certainly help!

Some things to be aware of: when they say all access, they mean just for the computer. They want an extra fifteen bucks for the iPad or iPhone app. So all access means some access.
Also, if you're on a Mac, the stream runs on Silverlight. For some reason, on my one year old MacBook, this makes the CPU run hot and the fan runs all the time, so I'm sure to fry the computer over the next three weeks if I use this. It won't even run on an older Mac that doesn't have an intel chip.
I've requested a refund.

Crap, crap, crap. Don't even bother trying to watch the Silverlight feed on Linux. Last year, Versus ran it in Flash, and it worked great for me. This year, no dice. I am also asking for a refund.
NBC fail.

So this is my first year watching it on demand, instead of tivo'd through Versus. I no longer have cable TV.
I like that they give you the entire stage, from the beginning, but I just don't have time to watch every stage in its entirety. At least on the Versus TV coverage, they'd do a recap of what happened before their coverage started. With the on demand, I don't know where to start watching so I don't miss anything interesting. Any suggestions?

I'm not having a good time with NBC's "All access" Rare is it that any video will start at all... I wasted an hour last night trying both computers, updating Firefox etc. etc. etc.
Actually made it work & caught the end of this morning's stage but I'm not at all impressed. Last year, I could log in to the Versus site, choose what I wanted quickly and easily, and watch in bed on the small tablet PC.
FAIL

There is a similar thread to this one where I posted the email address I used to complain and get a refund. The responses are quick and I got my refund yesterday. If you ask for one, throw in the fact that they were deceptive about the all access thing not really being all access. You have to pay to stream it on an iPad too. that's not what the commercial or website indicated.
I'm happily using the livesteams I can find all over the place. NBC blew it!

^thanks DLBroox - I'll search out your thread.
Last night, after I posted, I couldn't even login at the "Mapmyride" portal linked from the NBC TDF homepage. This morning, I got live coverage just about OK, but that's no use to me unless I give up the day job.
NBC - stands for "Nonexistant Bicycling Coverage" if you ask me.
