Thanks again too all those who added....and?..
I do enjoy it...it'd just that "Getting Started Again" syndrome thing....like I stated above?...I never took a ride I regretted or didn't wind up enjoying and feeling great about myself afterwards...honestly?...(besides doing a bunch of menial work around the house today, which also gave me time to think about this)...I've just been so worn out...and then it hit me..duh!...Obligations at work have me doing (6) 10 hour days for several months now..pulling 55-60 hours a week at work..then Tuesday night I have Bible study and 1/2 of my one day off is spent attending Church...man...so somehow I gotta figure out how to manage time and energy a bit better here.
I swung by the LBS today...didn't buy anything...just dropped in to say hi and look at the cool stuff to help motivate me.
AYE AYE SIR!
In my experience people tend not to stick to exercise that they do not enjoy. For me bike riding works because I LOVE to ride a bike - it always makes me feel better.
So if you don't LOVE to ride a bike, it is absolutely necessary for you to find something that you enjoy in order to get your exercise.
I have a family full of diabetics - and none of them exercise. They tend to die off young, and their quality of life in their 'golden years' is terrible. You have the power to make changes, once you're ready to commit. Make a choice and then LIVE FOR THAT CHOICE.
Good luck.

Why do you own so many bikes and then don't ride 'em?
Just decorating your garage, I suppose. Stay out of the bike shop and use what you've got and NO more excuses either!
Am not diabetic, but am only 82 years old and ride 100+ miles week.
So get off your but and pedal!!!

If the wind in one's face, the hum of the tires over pavement and the response of the most efficient means of transportation devised by man is not enough to inspire one to get out on a bicycle, then take up bowling, cause there's lots more opportunities to have a cold beer.

You have to want to, that's all there is to it.
Like you, I'm type 2 also, and what got me to turn my life around is I outlived my dad (age wise) who died from diabetic complications. I've seen a couple of people now die from diabetes, and I wouldn't consider it a pleasant way to go.
I'm not going down without a fight.

I can't help the OP with his motivation shortage, but the responses here have certainly gotten me pumped up. Well, that and the fact that one of my many older sisters recently overcame diabetes by getting off her ample derriere. I vowed many years ago to avoid that fate by maintaining a healthy lifestyle and cycling is a very key cog in that.

The hardest part is the first 50 feet.
Whenever I ride it motivates me to want to ride again tomorrow.
Whenever I get away from riding it makes it hard to get up the enthusiasm to go out to ride.

I don't really have a solution. You gotta just do it and know you'll be happier that you did.
(like right now .... I'm sitting around reading BF when I should be riding.)

Bicycle Repair Man !!!
I need some inspiration...I have diabetes...quit smoking cigarettes Memorial Day last year...drug my '04 Giant OCR3 out of the shed and completely refurbished it...then also bought an old Trek rigid frame mountain bike (in pristine refurbished condition for $120 just because) and finally?...a very slightly used Specialized Cross-trail...all the gear...shorts, bibs and clipless shoes and pedals...took about a dozen 10 mile rides on each and just sort of fell by the wayside...several months ago...lost my inspiration...so please.....magic words anyone?...inspire me.

Type 2 diabetes is an acquired illness and can very often be reversed with a proper diet and the exercise is just going to provide added benefits for your body and mind.
We all have our own battles...
If I woke up and wasn't in pain I would think I was dead, I make a choice every day to keep moving and ride as much as I possibly can.
