I have two pairs and seem to ride in one pair more than the other.

No. And I'm too embarrassed to say how many pair I have.

Funny as I was just wondering how many pairs of shoes is typical for a cyclist. I have two pair for road and two pair for off-road. If one pair gets wet, I have the second for the next day's ride and don't have to worry much about putting on wet shoes.

You can have too many shoes in pristine condition.

I knew sooner or later one of you would have caught on that none of these yet have ever met the pavement. I am still wearing out my first pair of cheapo Bontrager's that i purchased 7.5 years ago when i first started riding.

Does Trek make a good bike?
Edit: Only too many good shoes that never get used.

I wear size 51 (that's 15 in US sizing). When I find a pair that fits at a reasonable price, I buy them.
A quarter-century ago, I was down to my last pair. Unfortunately, one of the shoes disappeared during a move. I couldn't find another pair in my size anywhere, so I had to make my own cycling shoes. First I converted a pair of running shoes with a wooden sole I made, then I modified a pair of football shoes (much easier to just drill the plastic).
Now I have three pair and will buy two more if I find them.

2 pair for roading
I also buy shoes when they're on sale and keep a pair in reserve. When the new ones get cycled in, the old ones get relegated to days when rain threatens.

Cycling shoes?
Oh, sorry... I'm a little "old school" and wear a pair of Adidas running shoes with toe clips!

I've got a pair that's seven years old that I've been nursing with Shoe Goo every other week for about a year, wearing the other pair while the goo hardens. I wonder how much longer I'll keep that up before I go get the totally new pair out of its box and toss the old pair.

At my age, yes. I in general have way too many shoes. Recently ran across a really good deal on a pair of my favorite color Sperry TopSiders and bought them. Wife asked why I did that since I'm pretty sure not gonna live long enough to get around to wearing them.
