IQ-X Stand Light Quit Working
My IQ-X is about 6 months old, and it's been working fine until recently. On a dark night on a long brevet, I came to a stop and the light went black. Since then the stand light is not working. I've turned it off and on, ridden it in daylight and dark, and the stand light does not come on. I don't know exactly when it quit working, but I do enough night riding on brevets to know it had been working.
The B&M instructions don't indicate there's any mode where the stand light is disabled.
Aside from damage or failure, are there any reasons the stand light would stop working?

It's a sort of failure. Follow up with warranty service.

I have seen reports of this failure elsewhere. If I had to guess, the supercap broke off. B&M has problems with that. Never heard of epoxy, I guess.

Same thing happened with mine, within two months of near daily use. Now it only has on and off of bright light using manual switch. I only run it at night and on road during day (turning it off when on MUP as a courtesy during daylight). I was too lazy to inquire with B+M about it and just live with it.

Agree with others here. Sounds like a capacitor came loose. I have B+M front and rear lights on 5 different bikes and recently had one where the standlight on the rear started working intermittently.
It shouldn't but it happens sometimes.
Contact you retailer and they should be able (and required) to help you. Otherwise contact B+M directly.

There is a forum member who has successfully reattached the standlight capacitor on a light or two. Maybe @sweeks?

B&M tech support was very helpful via email, they helped me resolve a wiring issue with my IQ-XS. Just make sure to check your spam folders for their reply.

I took it back to the LBS. They said it should be covered under warranty, but they have to ship it back to the distributor (Peter White). That means I'd be without a light for a while. I have a long brevet this weekend, so it will have to wait a bit. Not too long, since my warranty is up in October IIRC.
There are two scenarios where it's an issue: when I come to a stop on a dark country road, and when I come to a stop in town. At PBP last month, I stopped at night for a bio break, and that's when I noticed the stand light wasn't working. I couldn't see the road edge when it was time to start back up. I flicked on my helmet light, so no biggie, but it was disconcerting for a second. In town, it's more about having some front light to be seen.
I'll just have to remember to turn on the helmet light when stopping at night.

That's a happy ending.

I had this happen on my IQ-X, too, after just over a year. Super disappointing for a top of the line German-engineered product.
