Avid elixir lever bottoming out
My rear Avid Elixir 1 brake was dragging so I removed the pads, worked the pistons into the caliper with tire levers, and replaced the pads. The brake is now working without dragging but the lever is bottoming out at full contact of the pads. How do I adjust this?

You don't.
You bleed the brakes, that will fix it.
Have fun.
EDIT2: I'm assuming you pumped the lever a few dozen times?
EDIT: You're not the first person to have this problem with this brakeset. They seem to be lower quality and prone to problems. I'd replace with just about any shimano disc brakeset.
OT: Hey look, another "my disk brakes don't work right" thread.

+1 you need a brake bleed, and it ain't easy with Avid(=Sram) hydraulics.
Here's the saga of my Elixir 7 brakes.
Watch the videos carefully, buy yourself an Avid bleed kit (this is the one I bought), and get busy.
Alternatively, go to a shop and pay a practiced professional to do it.
Alternatively, replace with Shimano Hydraulic brakes. Everybody knows/says they are worlds better for performance and maintenance.
