Pic Request Toshi's or VO Leather Wrap/Tape
Hi gang, if you use the brown VO or Toshi leather bar wrap/tape could you post a picture or two (or linky)? I'm thinking of combining a Brooks saddle (honey) with either the brown VO or Toshi leather wrap, I do not want the Brooks leather wrap.
Thanks!
Chris

Have the VO stitch-on elkhide and the perfed wrap. Great match for honey Brooks. Sorry, but I can't shoot pix now because I'm at work.

The Toshi tape is very good stuff. I have black, not brown so I can't help with color matching if that's what you're trying to do. Color matching with snapshots is difficult anyway unless both items are in the same photo.
Unlike the VO tape, Toshi is not perforated so any cable housings or electrical tape under the bar tape will not show. Toshi tape is textured.
If it helps, here's my Toshi tape: https://tinyurl.com/6d4s4w

Hi Chris,
I don't have any experience with the leather wrap you mentioned,
but I did just notice your other thread regarding cloth tape. Since I
understand you're trying to match a honey Brooks, here's some cloth
tape with said saddle (just in case you're still on the fence).

That is exactly the color scheme I'm going for!

Two pictures, the VeloOrange sew on elk hide is new and doused with neetsfoot (sp) oil in the second picture. A year older in the first.

Nice set up, Tom. Are those the wraps you have to stitch yourself? Thanks

Hi Chris,
Yes, you get to stitch this yourself. It took me about two hours the first time. The hardest part is cutting out for the brake lever. I use an old trick where you tape down the part of the brake that wraps around the bar, then apply the leather, then add the brake lever. I imagine that that isn't very descriptive. I will have to add more when I can take pictures. The bonus is that you can remove the levers, replace cables etc. without removing the leather or tape.

The sewing is a little tricky as you have to make sure the seam rotates around the bar so there is no position where it is directly under your hand while riding as that would be very uncomfortable. I have done this job twice so I was a little better at it the second time. With gel pads under the leather, it is a very comfy feel. I had some elk hide left over to use as a chainstay wrap.
