A Bontrager Ion 200 just to have in case I get caught out after dark. The additional visibility is good, but mostly I need a token light to comply with law. With the time change coming up I just want something small that can go in the seat bag or my backpack for commuting, without carrying my rather largish Dinotte kit. That stuff is still vastly superior for actual illumination, but overkill to always have on hand over winter. (Why didn't I get something like this sooner? Doh.)

And a new pair of fall/spring cycling gloves that at least try to work with smartphones. (Assos intermediate.) That's mainly for road use, but I'm sure they'll be nice to and from work, too.

Here are some before and after videos. Also, I was very surprised how I could tell the reduction in engagement angle affected my ride. It wasn't just that the wheel starts almost instantaneously from when you apply pedal force. It is also very obvious when, for example, you switch to an easier gear while pedaling, and suddenly you're cadence is lower for that new gear so you speed up a little and there's a small "kachunk" (for lack of a better way to describe the sound) as you catch up to the pedal/gear's new cadence. Well that never happened on my ride, no matter how much I shifted. Very happy that I made this purchase.

I prefer the 36t ratchet for my road bike. The 54 I use on my Diverge and MTB. Better engagement but also louder and higher frequency noise.

It is definitely high pitched and loud...which is what I was after. In my area, there is an annoying amount of hipsters people on Bird scooters riding 3-4 abreast and hogging up a bike lane, going 10mph and talking about their favorite skinny jeans or third wave coffee shops, and completely unaware of anyone else who is using the lane. So when they're clogging up the lane, I want to freewheel and let those people know that there are riders around.

I bought and installed an 11-46 cog set for my Surly Krampus, replacing the 11-42. I also replaced the 30T chainring with a 28T on my Marin Pine Mountain 1. The hills here in the Philippines can be pretty steep.

Don't know why I didn't think of this before, but have been using these heated socks for the past two weeks with good results. Definitely take the edge off the chilled toes.

It works great. It even managed to fill a valve that was not long enough for the wheel. (Somehow I managed to run out of tires with either long valves or a removable core, so...I bought some new tires as well.)

This is awesome. I just ordered a ton of weird branded stuff from Wish. Super cheap, super fun shopping for stuff on there. My most recent purchase was yesterday: a few jersey/bib sets, an Outto windbreaker (neat to see someone else who bought one), a few pair of socks, some overshoes, a couple of masks/neck warmers, and 2 x Trek (fake) cold weather jerseys...all for the price of $103, including shipping. Can't wait to see if any of it is quality, or if it's all junk. I'll be the guinea pig for the rest of you. I'll make a post with the items and brands and give a review when it comes in, and then maybe follow-up after a few months or so and see how it holds up.

Of course I also got a bike...but that was yesterday, so old news.

Matching side-loading water bottle cages for my Cervelo. Since I'm a 51 and the triangle is so small, I needed side-loading cages because pulling the bottle straight up was always tricky because it would hit/rub against the top tube.

There are some good quality values in those no-name and silly-name cycling apparel on Amazon. Turns out Spotti and Przewalski are the same company, and some of the same items are sold under both names.

The Przewalski shorts with orange 3D pads have been so comfortable for me on rides up to 100+ miles I ordered a bib set with capri length legs that extend just below the knee. I got 'em just in time to try this weekend on a couple of rides. The extra length means I don't need to mess with separate knee warmers, and it provides a little compression support. They're very good, comparable to The Black Bibs brand bibs and shorts. They're labeled Spotti on the leg hem exterior, but Przewalski on an inside label. The 3D pad is a little different, CoolMax by DuPont, yellow and black with more of a sculpted pad, thicker under the sit bones, thinner where less padding is needed. It's just about as comfortable as the orange 3D pad, and both are better than any other pad I've tried from Pearl Izumi or Black Bibs.

So I can recommend Przewalski or Spotti for bargain priced shorts and bibs, at least the 3D pads. I haven't tried the 4D pads they've been using on newer items.

^ As far as my butt can tell, there's no difference between the 3d and 4d butt pads in the Prezwalski bibs.

As I also mentioned either on this thread or another, I have a fair bit of amazon-bought cycling gear, including apparel from some of the mfrs. mentioned a couple of posts above. They are not in my experience all of equal quality or craftsmanship. The two best ones I have worn are from Sponeed and Santic, both terrific. The Sponeed, in particular, is as good as and in some cases significantly better than some of my brand-name, expensive stuff. It is just superior apparel. The 4D gel padding is the best padding I own on any tight or bib, bar none. Keeps its shape over time. I think I paid around fifty dollars? Something like that. Ridiculous. Sponeed is also widely reputed to have over-the-top customer service. My tights are two years old with a ton of miles on them and they look brand-new. Buying myself another pair in a different color scheme for Christmas. Can't wait. There is also a new line that is getting Sponeed-like reviews on amazon, and it is called Ceroti. New Kid. About to order a bib for $57.90. We'll see.

Some of the cycling apparel sold on amazon is not very good though. I have bought some of those. Some, say bibs or tights, the actual clothing/pant part is great. But the shammy is mediocre or, like, nonexistent. That was the case for a couple of inexpensive Baleaf bottoms I got. They were in the 30-45 dollar range, but they are not in the Santic, Sponeed league. Not remotely. I struck out there.

I do support brand-name manufacturers. I own stuff from Canari and Pearl Izumi and REI and Cafe Du Cycliste and poc and more. I am about to buy a very expensive big-name brand bike. But I am also not afraid to save a little cash occasionally. Sometimes, it feels pretty good.
