Bringing a pump with you?
Not sure how OFTEN you do face a flat when you're cycling. But do you guys actually carry a pump with you just in case? Or meh, flat never happens on you?

Traditional full-sized frame pump for me. CO2's and mini-pump days are over for me...I have a junk drawer full of them that I've collected over the years...
And yes, I do flat. Sometimes two flats during a long ride, which is rare, but happens

I use a topeak turbo morph and pump to 140 no problem. It's a large pump and sucks up one of my bottle mounts, but the one time I needed it, I'm glad I had it. i was at my turnaround 15 miles from home so it'd have been a long walk.
i like that mini road morph though... I may have to look into it.

nevermind, it's only 3" shorter than the pump I have now...

This guy rocks. My Bass Pro Shop had them for $14 on clearance. Surprised the hell out of me. I cleaned up that trip and got a pump, some tubes, and a saddle bag for like $30 out the door.
i like that mini road morph though... I may have to look into it.

You must be new. You'd be foolish not to carry a pump (some prefer co2) and 2 tubes, unless you only ride within walking distance of home.

I just carry a mini-bontrager that mounts off to the side of one of my bottle cages. Not the most aero, but I'd rather lose .05mph all the time than be walking at 2mph some of the time

Please tell me you are joking. Over how many miles is that? I just had my third flat of this year and that is after 6000+ miles. I ride tubulars and 2 of those flats were fixed with a can of pitstop, which has now tripled its efficacy for me from less than 20% to 66% LOL...........

You should ALWAYS bring a pump. End of question. Whether it's a co2, frame or mini pump doesn't really matter. I bring a co2 pump with 2 cartridges. If I get more than 2 flats, I use the cell phone I also always bring. Hasn't happened yet though.

Totally agree. Never leave without it.
The mount they ship with is huge and ugly. Get a beside-the-water-bottle mount from Performance and avoid the ugly.

Road Morph on my winter bike, and pocket pump in the summer. Two tubes?? No need unless you're doing rondo's every time your ride. I carry one tube, a Park patch kit and a tire boot. I had several flats early in the year, and none since over several thousand miles of riding.

Yep, Pump, tubes, tire levers, muti-tool, and a patch kit are always in my backpack! Never leave home without them, even if I'm going on a short trip.

Full-length frame pump. I've used it twice. For the whole summer I used a 16g c02 cartridge, but never flatted, so that never got any use.

It is not listed specifically as working w/ the topeaks but I figure if it is too big I can shim it with electrical tape. I'll let you know how it turns out. THe shipping was like $7 for a $2 part haha.

I've never flatted however i still carry a frame pump. Sometimes it looks tacky and it blocks out the "trek" on the downtube but i still carry it. My biking partner used it twice, so you should always carry a small frame pump or co2 carts. Only thing is with co2 sometimes you might have extra and you dont wanna keep the extra in the saddle bag or jersey pocket. Unless you're wheel can handle the whole co2 cart then if you want your wheel back faster just use the co2. But a frame pump is always helpful, even though some can't reach past 110psi
