Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Tubeless tires, a couple of questions.

I have read advertisements for tubeless tires. The ads seem to promote "less flats".
How can a tubeless tire prevent flats more than a tire/tube combo?
How do you fix a flat in a tubeless tire?
What a re the benefits of tubeless tire?

Benefits of going tubeless are lighter weight, less prone to flats, and can run lower air pressures without fear of a pinch flat. At least that's the way it is for mountain biking.

A tubeless tire resists flats more because you are running slime or equivalent in the tires.

No pinch flats with tubeless tires since you are not running tubes. If you get a small hole in the tire sealant will generally seal it.

To fix the flats you can either use a tubeless tire patch or insert a tube.

Benefits are less weight, less flats, lower tire pressure so more comfortable ride.
