Replaced a old Raleigh that I used to have

Back when money was tight I usually rode a decent name bike that I bought as a basket case and fixed instead of a department store bike. I had an old steel Raleigh C-30 that I rode many miles. Once I got my second Surly, I let a friend's daughter have it. I have missed that old bike I have been looking at one on marketplace for a while . It looked in very good condition . The bike is in unbelievable condition so I have a Raleigh C-30 again. Even for a 90's catalog and owners manual
I really didn't need another bike

nice indeed !

looks great now - but I’m a sucker for the old school gum / tan wall look .. set of panaracer pasela tan wall tires (or similar) would look really good on that bike …

Great find. Great bike. Love the color. I worked in a Raleigh dealership back then, but I don't remember that bronze/brown.

Hybrids from the years before manufacturers started adding heavy, all-but-useless suspension forks are almost criminally underappreciated.

That Raleigh is a perfect example of the kind of practical bike that Rivendell's Grant Petersen has proselytized for for decades, but he evidently can't see that, or else he realizes that acknowledging that such bikes are available in almost every bike store would diminish the appeal of his pricier versions.

I can see keeping an old bike from the past. Even if its not the original one. And even if its not going to be ridden regularly. Ha... Its just a thing I guess.

If I found my old Western Auto "Murry Western Flyer" I would keep it...

It'd be cool if you could scan the catatog pages into a PDF and host it somewhere

Rode up the street and back to test. Adjusted the seat and rear derailleur a bit just a mile but it is my first ride of the year. Cool old bike 😁
