Budget cross wheelset
What cross wheelset would everyone here recomend for someone on a tight budget (<$350 used). These will be used for racing. Should I look on ebay for tubular? Thanks.

My LBS, which is pretty cross-focused, is touting Reynolds Solitudes right now. Sub 1500g?, deep, and not very pricey? I haven't pulled the trigger yet.

Why not 300 brand new? And ass kicking quality?
I have a set of Velocity Deep V's that I use for my roadie and my cross bike. And I have to say that is the best 300 dollars I have ever spent. I did my transaction mostly through velocity (great cust service) but the shop I did the rest through was alger cyclery. Great little shop, and they ship very quick. (https://alger-cyclery.stores.yahoo.net/ the website is lacking, but it has the contact info)

I don't think I'm just lucky, but I have two excellent tubular wheelsets that I bought used for $120, 150 each. Apparently the road and TT and Tri guys are not interested in putting up with the hassle of sewups unless they're carbon fiber and insanely expensive, so classic built up style wheels go for shocking cheap money. I've got one pair with D/A hubs, WS spokes and Reflex rims and another with Chorus, Sapim and Seoul 88s. So this is all top shelf stuff. Oh, and one set came with still good road sewups I use for training and the other with wheel bags. So I'd say used was a very good option.
Oh, I'm running Campy 9s so there's no problem using either shimano or Campy cassettes, just a half turn on the rear der when I change between them.
