Isis Bottom Bracket
Hello all. I know ISIS is old and pretty much dead tech, but I have two awesome cranksets that I got for stupid cheap and have been using for the past few years, so I'm sticking with it. My bottom bracket just went so I'm looking for a replacement that's going to stand up for as long as possible, and still not be boat anchor heavy. I went with a TruVativ Giga Pipe Team SL which is a bit heavier than my last bottom bracket, which was an Omni Racer carbon with chromolly bearings. I considered going with the same thing again, but for the extra 100 grams and at less than half the price I figured I couldn't go wrong with the TruVantiv for now. I'm asking this now because I want to buy another one for when the TruVantiv eventually gives up the ghost, and since this is a dying tech, it would most likely be best to just get it before I need it. So, what say you bike wrenches, if it was your bike, what would you put on? (Oh, it's a Kestrel 200 sci frame, so it's def an older frame, but I'm going to ride that thing till it dies, or I do).

Agree 100% on SKF. Only ISIS BB that has held up for me. Not cheap, but good stuff.

I used to use FSA Platinum bottom brackets. They worked as good as any other and much better than RaceFace. I never found a brand that lasted more than a season of MTB use.

I'll second the FSA platinum units. Way better than the Truvativ, and cheaper than the SKF. Sometimes you can even find the FSA platinum pro with quad bearings.

Ok, like the idea of the skf, but I'm not seeing a 108 in an english thread, which is what I had in my kestrel 200 sci..... what am I missing?

Ahhh, doing a little research it appears the BSA and BSC are the english standard. Let me know if that's correct, I'm going to install the truvantiv for this season, but I'm buying the SKF later this year to put in the toolbox for when the Truvantiv gives up the ghost. Thanks all for the advice!
