26 miles, winds were a bit stronger than I expected today (10-12mph).

12.5 miles this afternoon. The crushed gravel path dried out since Saturday; much easier going.

Ten mile ride this evening after work. Poured down this morning but much nicer most of the rest of the day in respect to Spring, maybe?

14 miles Monday afternoon. Extra credit for the real hills and 20 mph invisible hills. Feeling like summer already, temp reached 90 today.

That's great! In my old days of mtb we called that "submarining".... I remember times pedaling under water up to my knees haha. A little jealous here

Peace o/

Raining when I awoke, but... the sun came out. By the time I got ready and out the door the sun was back behind the clouds and the wind had picked up a little. But I took the lil' Tarmac out anyway. About 4 miles into the ride the wind was so strong I decided not to fight it (and the sprinkles). 7.2 miles (11.6k) only 418 calories burned . That short ride sure made a mess on the bike.

Took the day off yesterday. 40 miles with my buddy, Steve, figuring out a new different way to get our same mileage in since they have blocked off our access to the subdivision. It will be blocked during the week while the clear underbrush from the woods. Normally they do controlled burns but their are homes and apartments too close to the area. 😔

Had another...in bed at 12:30AM and wake up at 3:00AM so might as well kit up and head out at 4:15AM for a cool and leisurely 28 miles. Back home while still dark so a chill out and bite to eat then back out at 8:13AM to meet up for regular Tuesday AM ride. I managed to hang with them for 35 miles then a few more on my own to finish up with 85 miles.

Blustery, breezy, moderate-plus winds on a warm FL afternoon. 5-10 mph winds don't faze me, but when it gets into the 15 range, the heart rate rises and speed drops. Just not as enjoyable, but I know it could be far worse. Ended up below 30 mi, but it was a strenuous workout.

Nasty, ugly, cold, overcast, windy winter's day. Enuf winter already! Cut the ride short to 13.7 miles (22k), tired of fighting the cold wind.

Yesterday - second day of Spring - I rode to work for the first time since near the end of November. 21 miles total.
New this year - riding LWB recumbent instead of the SWB that was my Commuter Bike since 2008.
Needed 2 cables/padlocks and a U-lock to secure it (wheels, frame, seat) to the rack in the parking garage near my office.

Another 40 miler with my buddy Steve this morning. Great ride but my computer had some problems before it locked up at the start of our fourth lap. Waiting for tech support to respond to my email.

It's exactly 40 miles from my driveway to the only traffic light in Bronson and back, and that's what I did. It was warm today, pushing 90, but not very humid and the winds weren't bad. I did get somewhat of a tailwind on the return and hit a sustained 27mph, which is about maxed out on the gears.

Was supposed to go with John V on the Clean Air Ride on the Withlacoochee this Saturday, but I'm doing a renewal of the vows on Saturday, and couldn't work out the logistics......Next time, John!

Bikes: My main, forever Ride, is My 1973 Schwinn Varsity named Henry. He's a tough old number. But I usually have a herd of varying size onhand that I am working on. I fix delapidated bicycles back to working dependable condition and put them up for sale .

14 miles on the mostly rural hilly route and finally broke the 15 mph average -- at least according to Cyclemeter, which has different auto-pause/resume timing than Strava. Strava sez 14.3 mph. I stopped briefly to snap photos of the freshly bloomed bluebonnets, and I usually stop at least briefly for red lights and most stop signs. So each activity app treats those brief pauses somewhat differently.

Still my fastest ride on that route. Fairly good wind out of the south but not too bad for a mostly west-east ride.

And I realized a fellow I met along that route last year really was patient. I was slogging along at around 10-12 mph trying to ride my age and hit 60 miles for the day. He slowed and rode with me the final 5 or so miles home. When I checked his rides on Strava he usually rides 20-25 mph along that route! It's pretty rare to find a seriously fast roadie who has enough patience to slow down and chatter with a slowpoke on a heavy comfort hybrid.

I've gotten a bit faster since then (a somewhat lighter rigid steel mountain bike helps) but I don't see myself ever managing 20-25 mph on that route, even with a lighter road bike.

Another typical 40 mile ride again today. Mr Wind came a little early so I decided not to do the other 20 miles that I said I was going to do. Still having computer issues -giving me bad stat data. 😔

No problem! Your wife definitely comes before a bike ride. We can come up with a ride date at any time.

Indeed Mr. Wind indeed made quite an appearance this afternoon. 17+mph with gusts. New self imposed rule - 15 is my limit (just not enjoyable above that). So I stopped off at Gainesville Health and Fitness and rode the elliptical for 45 mins. Better than nothing, as it's unlikely I'll get any more rides in this week.

Really felt the urge to bike to work today even though it was 29F when I left home. Took about four miles for the fingers to get cold but no frostbite! (Ski gloves plus liners). Much warmer on the way home. 20 miles total.

Got to the park this morning and the wind was already showing it's nasty side. Was contemplating on whether to go back home or not and into the parking lot comes my wife's riding partner. Asked him if he wanted a riding partner today and since the wife wasn't riding, I rode a very nice 40 miles on the recumbent trike. Having that low a profile and watching other riders struggle in the wind made me glad I opted to ride the trike.

Food stores and Home Depot riding today so about 20 miles on the grocery grabber. Had some good winds bringing me to a less than walking pace at times, so I figured 15mph winds. Made it home in time for the noon time news and weather report.......20mph with gusts to 30mph.

Got to get my wind speed guess-a-meter re-calibrated.

We both worked today - got out for a 13 mile tandem ride in the evening. No jackets, fingerless gloves - gotta love Spring!

Beautiful if windy afternoon/evening for a 39 mile with friends. Got enough wind assist from the nearly 30 mph SW wind to practically coast at 20 mph without much pedaling effort -- but paid for it on the return trip. Kinda interesting playing dodge-bike with the folks on bulky city bikes getting blown sideways hither and yon.
