Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It's Time! THE Annual Pissing Contest, I mean Mileage Thread!!

General rule: only "real" road miles count. Not trainer or roller miles. Honor system.

I am at 5147 miles, but hope to get in another 200 or so before year's end.

I've only been tracking my miles since July, but with 5.5 months, I have 1400 miles. I'm in my mid-50's and have never ridden as much as I am now, I feel great.

Edit 12-31: I finished strong, 1548 miles since July 8. I am incredible.

I drove about 12,000 miles this year. Oh! You mean on the bike. I think I did a whopping 900 miles this year, which is about 900 miles more than last year.

After my ride this afternoon, 12,102.7km and 53,826m of climbing, spread over 212 rides totalling 397 hours and 23 minutes. There's still time left for more, I have time off between X-mas and NY and the weather forecast is looking pretty good.

I'm at 6,009 miles and should be good for about another 300 or so by year's end. I'm not sure I'll make the 40 hr challenge for December, but will be close.

4882 miles, 276 hours, 17.67 average speed. My computers don't have a pause for slow downs and stops Not as much as I thought, mileage went down this year. Only rode eight days this month, will try to get another 400 miles or so by new years.

I have done 14,500 miles on six bikes together switching between them. Also I don't have a job so that helps.

I don't have a cycling CPU, so I'm kind of guessing. I've done 4 tours this year that I know the mileage for sure, and estimating my commute miles is easy enough. I average about 200 pleasure ride miles per week, sometimes more, sometimes less. I live where I can ride 25mm slicks year round, so rollers/trainers are mostly pointless for me.

3,500 touring miles
8,500 commuting miles
10,000 pleasure ride miles

So 20,000 give or take. Not bad for my first year owning a road bike

32,500 so far. The first two weeks were tough because I was late for work everyday. Then, I got fired because I was late for work everyday. It has been a breeze since then.

A very timely comment. Btw a parsec is a unit of distance, not time...

Ooops, I forgot to add my 19,436 commuting miles this year. That's a rough guesstimate.
