Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

De Marchi Bibs

Competitive Cycling continues their TDF discounts today with 50% off De Marchi.

I have never owned any of their clothing so am curious what the consensus is on their bibs, quality and comfort.

I've been looking for a good deal on higher end bibs am wondering if these fit that bill. My current best pair of bibs are Castelli Body Paint and I'd like something similar or even better in terms of comfort.

Any feed back on sizing? I'm 5'10" and 170 pounds. Castelli's are size XL. PI, Sugoi and other brands I'm a L.

They have Leggero, Perfecto Plus, Perfecto Light and Veloce bibs from $70 - $125.

They also have Castelli Free Aero Race in my size for $111 for reference.

Thanks

I have a couple of pairs from a few years back. Can't remember the exact model, possibly Leggero. They are best bibs I've ever owned. Not wearing out or breaking apart, very high quality. Comfortable, nice looking bibs.

This post won't be too helpful but...

Some of the DiMarchi gear at Competitive has been that same price since forever. I'm not saying it isn't a bad deal, just that I recognize some of the models at the same prices from months ago. The Leggera jersey is an example. I bought two at that price over a year ago.

That said, the Perfecto Light and Plus bibs caught my eye and the other bibs are priced really well.

If it helps, the Leggara jerseys I own are very nicely made. They don't wick as well as other jerseys but fit and finish is as good as anything out there.

I've got two sets of bib shorts. I don't remember the model. I'm 6' 210 pounds and the XL fits well.

2 pairs of my favorites

Bought two pairs of De Marchi Pro Bib Shorts for about $40 each from nashbar in 2016.
They have held up very well, have a great chamois up to about 30 miles ( thin, but dense foam).
Still getting regular use.

Fit well, discrete logo. I'd buy them again and dread them wearing out.
