This is a question for owners of 1 up hitch racks;
Is there a safety pin used to keep the rack in the receiver?
Thanks

No. It slides into the receiver and is held tight by an expander bolt. It does come with a Velcro safety strap to keep it from sliding out if the expander fails.

See this thread about how to actually attach the lock to the pin. Not included in the instructions, not intuitive, and very frustrating. But easy once figured out.

My rack has no slot, just the ball and I do check it from time to time. If I have lots of bumpy roads, it does loosen a bit but nothing terribly.

No it uses a bolt and wedge. You can run a cable lock around it to the safety hooks just in case it loosens on you.

The racks with 1 ¼" & 1 ¼" w/ 2" adapter do not have a provision for a safety pin. These racks are supplied with a velcro strap that attaches to the safety chain loops on the receiver. I've always used it since it takes all of 15 seconds to attach and is cheap insurance against the rack and my bike skidding down the road at 70 mph.
The racks with the 2" hitch come with a provision for a pin or lock that goes through the receiver and hitch bar.
