Buying new bike need advice
Hello everyone, looking into picking a new bike tomorrow and I want to do both regular trail and some off road, hopefully more off road. Now I been looking into these four bikes
The trek marlin 6
The diamond back hook 27.5
Haro double peak trail 27.5
Gt Aggressor pro, or what should I get under 700 dollars. Any info would be appreciated. Thank you.

Buy what looks good, feels comfortable, and from a shop that you enjoy dealing with.
The bikes you list are at similar price points, and will have similar component levels. That said, I like the 120 mm travel on the Hook better than the 100 mm travel on the others. For general trail riding, 120 mm is more of a sweet spot.
Test ride each of the bikes if you're able. Sometimes you'll get on a bike and it'll just feel right, and you'll know it's the one.

Always try to ride as many bikes as possible. Figure out what you like in a bike from the ones you were able to ride, then make your decision. Dont feel pressured into one vs another.

Bikes: A steel framed 26" off road tourer from a manufacturer who thinks they are cool. Giant Anthem. Trek 720 Multiroad pub bike. 10 kids bikes all under 20". Assorted waifs and unfinished projects.

I'd lean towards the Haro, best forks of the lot, hydraulic lock out, 100mm of good damped travel is better than 120mm of pogo stick. Bit better groupset than the Trek, not running a crappy 1 x 8 like the Diamond Back which will see you spin out on downhills and struggle on uphills. Good gear range for a beginner. Hydraulic brakes.
