Trek 7.3fx without wheels and tires... How much is it worth?

I bought a Trek 7.3FX last summer at my LBS and put on about 150 miles. In November, someone stole the wheels and tires off the Bike so now I cannot ride it. Looking at getting a new bike and wanted to offload my 7.3FX.

Everything is completely stock and still has all of the components. All that is needed is the wheels, tires, and rear cassette.

How much do you think I could get for it?

$100. Or, pick up a cheap set of wheels and tires for about 150, and get 250 for it.........

Don't know where you live--so much of the used bike market depends upon location. Major urban area would be more expensive, less so in a more rural or less expensive area. Take a look on your local Craigslist and see what new hybrids are going for, then figure that you'll have to be asking for a big discount on that because of the hassle that the buyer will have to go through.

Think about putting the new bike together out of the old parts?

I thought about putting new wheels and tires on it to tool around on but I'd rather sell it and put the cash towards a nicer new road bike.

Being that it's a relatively new bike, I would at the very least put a set of wheels, tires, and new cassette on it and continue riding. However, don't expect to get a whole lot more than what those parts will cost you back out of it. It's sad but true.

My first road bike was purchased for $50 on Craigslist sans wheels, tires, and cassette. I bought the wheelset I eventually wanted for my future road bike build and road the bike for 400 miles. I used needed parts and the wheelset off the $50 dollar bike to build my Surly and then sold the parted out frame for $50. In that case, I kept the parts I wanted and sold the frame for what I bought it for. Not a bad deal but it's tough to do.

A year old bike will probably sell for about 50% of a new one, assuming it still has all the parts and is in decent condition.

This would be a pretty decent wheelset-

You can find sets for <$100

Yep, then a set of tires for $50, and you are good to go, for use, or for sale. It will be a lot easier to sell with new wheels and tires, and a set of 36 spokers is a nice benefit. Find a cheap cassette and it's as good as new.

I'll bet you could get a decent price on a package deal from Niagara, where those wheels are coming from.

Ended up getting $200 for it just 3 days after posting it on craigslist so I'm not complaining too much!
