I am looking for a good pair of women's full-finger gloves for cold-morning rides, with temps around 30-ish.

I plan to ride to the Rose Parade leaving home around 7am. Last time (Jan 1, 2015), I wore layers from head to toe and everything was toasty warm.... except my fingers which ached all morning. Apparently, my full-finger gloves are not suitable for temps below 40.

Suggestions, anyone? Preferably padded.

PS - I can highly recommend the merino wool buff I bought at REI. The fabric is light and silky smooth, but warm and not scratchy on the neck, tall enough to pull up over my nose or keep scrunched around my neck.

They're really comfy and have a good finger length for me (I have short fingers, there's not too much room). Took them up to the Bay Area with me for Thanksgiving and they hold up fine in the 30s. They're fleece-y and have little textured grips on the first three fingers of each hand.

I think wind chill is even more a contributing factor. I bought mine at REI on sale Pearl Izumi. But the biggest thing is the liner that I bought at Performance. That helped a lot.

So if you ride slow, then wind chill is less a factor. But if you are going to be sitting or standing around to watch a parade that lasts a few hours, then a different kind of glove may be appropriate.

It's the wind that cuts through everything. 0ºC wind blasting your fingers, you need windproof material.
The best thing for me has been Sealskinz gloves.
They are thin, and completely windproof/waterproof.

If you're riding around at slow speed, stopping frequently, than the thermal ones might be better even if they are slightly bulkier.

Its more than just gloves. Lots of logistics to consider.

Depends on how far you are riding to get to the Parade and then the ride back. What about weather conditions as they might change on you. Also how long you will be sticking around, for the whole thing or what.

Then right afterwards there's the Post Parade Float Viewing: Post Parade: A Showcase of Floats presented by Miracle-Gro | Tournament of Roses

Well, Hubby gave me a pair of gloves for Christmas but I've been unable to ride due to carpal tunnel syndrome. It is not related to bike fit (I've had a fitting, and it fits very well) nor the way I ride --- just too too too much repetitive-use activities throughout the month of November and December and ignoring the symptoms all the while. It's better but not gone and is still very sensitive to use. Maybe next year!
