Nice work! I combined all those open runner maps into one GPX file but I didn't put any of the controls in so it's not really all that useful.

how about changing day 3 to stop at Mortagne? Villaines is awfully early to stop on day 3

You would have to leave Villaines-la-Juhel by midnight on Thursday to safely reach Rambouillet by noon. It would probably be best to get to Mortagne-au-Perche as you suggested before sleeping on Wednesday to reduce night riding and shorten the final push to the finish.

People that say you should push on to Brest the first day are sadists. I see no reason to do that either. Carhaix is doable, I suppose.
I wasted a lot of time waiting for showers and a cot at loudiac. It might have been worth it, dunno. I certainly felt a lot better when I left, but St. Nick isn't that far.

That was my thinking, too. But between Loudeac and St. Nick, everyone I encountered was planning to sleep in St Nick, and I figured by the time I got there it would be full. So I slept in a roadside park in my space blanket cocoon, which worked OK, except that it got very cold very fast, which woke me up, and then I was too desperate to pee to fall back asleep. So I only got an hour of sleep and pressed on to St. Nick. There, I checked and there was space in the dormitory so I figured I'd better try to get some more sleep. Before going to sleep, I noticed that there was a giant, red digital clock on the wall, so I could easily check the time. But when I woke up later on, the clock was switched off, so I had no idea what time it was, and anyway I couldn't seem to fall asleep again so I got up and pressed on. I found out later that I'd only slept for 1-1/2 hours in St. Nick. After another 3 hours of riding I was so sleepy that the two caffeine pills I'd taken seemed to have no effect so I decided on a roadside nap, but by the time I got everything out and crawled into my cocoon, the caffeine had finally taken hold and I couldn't get to sleep. So I pressed on for another couple of hours and then found myself dozing on the descent from the Roc so I took a twenty minute nap. All told, just under 3 hours of sleep riding out to Brest with an arrival time of just over 40 hours. There's no way I could have ridden straight through to Brest. On the way back, I got 5 hours of ditch naps including 2h20m somewhere after Loudeac, which was the best sleep I had had so far. My final snooze was 2-1/2 hours on a mat in Mortagne. That was good enough to put me through to the end with 9 hours of riding without naps.

I had 2 really good ditch naps, both during daylight hours. One before returning to Carhaix and one before Dreux. The ones at night didn't work for me, even though it was warm. I'm resolved to sleep at controls. I am not sure I could reliably say how much sleep I got on PBP, but it was a lot. I slept 6 hours in the last 200k. Three on the floor at Mortagne, and 3 in ditch naps.
If it's full at St Nick, it's not that far to Carhaix
My first 600k, I had listened to some experienced randos that said you should try riding a 600k without sleep. So I did. I only almost fell off my bike once, but fortunately that woke me up. Ended up finishing in 35 hours. I actually wasted a couple of hours at the overnight waiting for riding companions, so I was a moron not to sleep. I bet I would have shaved an hour off my time.

Crap, missed the goal I set for myself four years ago. Guess I should start planning for 2023, or REALLY start hitting the trainer now...
