Very Nice 1973 Raleigh Super Course

Have never owned a Raleigh, but this one is tempting me. Non original saddle & Front D. Other than that, it's all there. Thoughts on value in a large market city?

Very nice. Cappella lugs are a feature of '73 Super Courses. I would value in the $150-175 range.

Seller is asking $175, but seems open to negotiation. Hmm...

The pics show that the front derailleur is broken, cracked through the Delrin on the driveside. Other than that, looks nice, well worth $150.

I would say not anywhere near new condition bad tires, some iffy parts and cheapo replacement seat. Still it is a pretty good deal at $150 the frame set with nice paint and good chrome is worth close to the asking price. I would buy it at this price.

Slightly surprised by the large clearance on front, requiring a 750 caliper.

Had recalled these as coming with a 610 on the front.

Near new = joke. Check out the rust on the DT shifter bolts. Old tires, etc. Still a reasonable deal.

During a recent thread on a Super course rebuild, which ended up in cracked seat stay ends, brazing and refininshing, a number of SC pics were posted including at least on with 750 calipers in the front. I thought they all had 610 fronts and 750 rears. Perhap replacements for damaged 610s and the 750s simply had the range to accomodate. Even with a 700c wheel on these bikes, 610 shouod work.

Thanks for the response.

In this image it appears the cycle sits with what looks to be about a two degree up bubble.

Note the top tube in relation to the window sill behind it.

Wonder if fork got the correct blades or if someone at Worksop cut some blades too long and they went ahead an used them...

We should probably remember that the 1973 date makes this a "peak of the boom" machine so there were plenty of QC issues.

Gotta luv the artful lunar adjustment of the reflector astern.
