Anyone need a cheap TT bike? I have an aluminum p3 size large (56/58 with the flippable seat post). It's taking up space in my garage and I want a new track bike. $500 without wheels(I'll have to check on a crank also but will come with GXP and bb30 bb's and quarq magnets already installed)

osymetric rings - yay or nay?
I need bigger than 53/39 on my tt bike, so I'm changing rings anyway. they say they work with the quarq, is there a reason not to give them a shot?
@tetonrider - does an iphone-6 ant+ dongle exist?

You can also do it with a PC or Mac via software and a ANTUSB2 or ANTUSB-m stick. https://www.quarq.com/store/item/1711/

TT Tire Question
I recently got an older Giant Trinity for use as a TT bike. I was going to use a clincher wheelset with a Powertap hub, but decided instead to spring for a Stages crankarm and use the Reynolds 66 tubular wheelset I have that's just gathering dust. I bought the Reynolds wheels a few months ago and put new tires on them, Specialized Espoirs, which are sold as training tires. I wanted to try mounting my first set of tubies with something cheap, so I wouldn't be out much if I screwed it up. They went on fine, and I have a few hundred miles on them now.
So...given that this is my first season using a TT bike, should I swap these tires out for something better, or just use them this year as I get used to the bike? If I should swap them out, suggestions would be appreciated, keeping in mind that the road in Louisiana are often less than pristine.
Thanks!

I'm selling off my 23mm Corsa CX. Two are new and stretched, the other two are mounted and have about 200 miles on them. I can take pics. PM me if you are interested.

I'm overhauling my TT bike, getting an 11 speed conversion (SRAM Force), r2c shifters, and Zipp Vuka low mount clip on.
I pondered going electronic but its a lot of money for a bike I only ride maybe 1000 miles a year.

I shopped around and found a demo model 2011 P3 from an online bike shop. Not the superbike I wanted, but the bike with the geometry that fit. The problem is that I want to build it up with electronic, which would negate all the money I just saved...

TTs are expensive. I spent over $1500 in prep for time trials - and that's using my road bike!

I've spent more money in the past 2 years on TT **** for a bike I've ridden 1k miles than I have on the bike I've ridden 29k miles in that same time.

Electronic is awesome for TT bikes, being able to shift in the bullhorns (which comes in handy in corners and hills) I'm just not sure if its 1200 dollars awesome.

P3 is a very serviceable bike, you're not losing a ton of time with it, especially with the right wheelset, clean wiring, a flat back, and an aero handlebar.

seriously, the p3 was the standard against which other bikes were compared just a few years ago.
if you (island rider) are new to the game, then ride the p3 for a while and figure out what position you REALLY settle into. you may find that your position now is not what it will be after a year of TTing.
i find di2 on a TT bike to be valuable (particularly if you train on the bike often, around traffic), but it is a luxury.

I've done a few TTs and raced a few tris. I really like the aero position and do reasonably well. This year I'm probably going to do a few more of each this year and actually train and prepare for them. I figure at this point it's still an engine thing and seeing where my position settles down. I don't think that the difference between a P3 (properly set up and equipped) and a BMC TM01 is going to be the thing that makes or breaks me. I just knew I didn't like the bike I was riding.
I've got HED Stinger 7 front and 9 rear that I use for the wheels.
I did buy a long sleeved skinsuit and I own an aero helmet!
