pedal is broke but can be fixed for just a couple of dollars but I do have another crankset to go with it. the bike is so nice and complete though I didnt want to mismatch it all up. so the choice is up to you. thanks
If anyone buys this bike I have a couple of sets of Dyna Drive pedals, one still NOS in the box. I assume he means the left pedal is broken and not that the left crankarm is stripped out, but I have one of those, too.

Large and re-painted, but quite nice.

https://chicago.craigslist.org/nwc/bik/5170800942.html

Vintage Trek mdl 704, 1978 - $200 (VERNON HILLS)

condition: excellent
make / manufacturer: Trek
model name / number: 704, series TX700

Trek model 704 from 1978, in excellent used condition. I am the original owner. A brief history:

'78-'86, ridden regularly. Never crashed.
'86-90, ridden rarely. Living then in high traffic area, unsafe for cyclists.
'90-present. Not ridden at all. In 1990 I moved to a different city. The movers scratched the paint and damaged the wheels. I had the bike professionally repainted, and bought new wheels. In my new area there are many off-road trails, so I bought an off-road bike and didn't ride this one anymore.

Although the bike was repainted, the new paint job looks even better than original. There's only one chip, seen in the photos in front of the shifters on the down tube. I touched up this chip with a bit of leftover paint that the painter gave me. You would not be dissatisfied in any way with this paint job.

The bike's provenance is perfect--I am providing the original receipt, owner's manual, and brochure. Everything ties together with the serial number.

Key features:

**25.5" frame
**Reynolds 531 double-butted throughout, except for Continental Oval fork blades.
**Campagnolo dropouts
**New sealed bearing hubs
**Matrix anodized Titan II rims
**Sugino 40/52 crankset
**Suntour Cyclone derailleurs

Obviously wrong about the recommended rider height, but that Super Sport is a sweet ride. Mrs. Trotsky has the identical bike in 53cm. Tenax tubing, full 600 group, Cinelli bars and stem.

Original rims were Rigida, but it looks like this one has a replaced rear wheel.

What was the listed price? There's one locally on CL for $1100 and that seems outrageous for the condition. You need not tell us what you actually paid.

Fun budget vintage > $150 O.B.O.
MAFACS, bar mounted bottle cage, cool Pivo stem.
Perhaps put another $100 into it for rubber, Kool Stops, maybe some inner cable's. Pedals/clips, old leather saddle can be found for near nothing. I would leave the rest of it as original.

$550

That one for $1100 was listed after I bought mine, and looks much for well used. The one I got is practically brand new, even appears that the brake pads are original.
