I would lock it to something where I could get the Ulock through around it and through the frame. The way it is now, somebody drives up with a truck, bolt cutters through the cable, throws the bike in the truck and takes off in about 4 seconds so that they can deal with the Ulock in their garage shop.

Yeah, but suppose there isn't anything nearby that meets your requirement ? Most places don't have proper bicycle lockup posts and bars. Honestly, if some dedicated bike thief with a truck is gonna steal your bike, then they'll prolly have the skillz and toolz to deal with a U-lock or whatever. Can you say "angle grinder" ?

The U lock could have fit a little higher on the skinny part of the pole.
I don't even use the cable for my lock, I just use the U lock. If I can't lock it I bring the bike in with me.

I have never found it impossible to locate something that I cant fit my U-lock around to secure my bike. Ever.

I'm sure NYC has lots of poles and **** to lock to. Some cities are different, and some towns are real small. I'm sure there are tons of places that people have a hard time finding something to lock to.

New bars and for the first time brakes. Last part should be ready to install as soon as I have free time and motivation. Been waiting on that combo for 4 months as they've sat on my floor.

Agreed, it's nice when people actually try before they post a bunch of threads that have already been made dozens of times. Reading is insane.
